A 1986 Porsche 944.

I just picked it up Friday and man, let me tell you, I'm in love already.
The 'blu is still the handling champ but man, the 944 has it's own merits for being one of the best handling sports cars out there.
Good power when the tach is on the boil and most everything works too.

Maintenance on the car has been intensive with most everything being new on the car so I've basically got a near new car considering that it's almost a classic.

I've already ordered it's first mod in a new throttle body cam for better throttle response and am buying a rear underpan from a 951 Cabriolet.
It's the same rear underpan that's used to help the aerodynamics of the car and came stock on the 951 turbo's.

I have tons of things that I want to do to this new steed but for everyone here, the Cavy comes first.
It's my baby, my pride, my joy, and ultimate expression of how a car can be transformed into a sports car.

These are at night so sorry it's not the best but you can see how after 23+ years of service, the car is in good shape.
I'll also have engine pics coming soon.

The paint has the clear peeling but that's going to be fixed with a good hand rubbing until one day it can be painted.
It just needs some love and care with the paint but it looks good for being as old as it is.

The interior is in great shape too with the dash recovered in leather as it was originally done from the factory.
The rear seats were redone too and over all, I'm very happy with the purchase.
Oh and with the head lights and fogs going at night, the car looks like a Porsche coming at you. It's sweet looking with the big Hella headlights.
I'm stoked.

Thanks everyone and didn't really expect this much response.
It's the n/a with the 2.5 liter engine and 5 speed.
It was rated about 150 to 160 hp from the factory with a weight of about 2600 pounds which is quite similar to the Cavy.

And I do have alot of plans for the car and it's become officially the last project car that I'll probably do. So restoration parts are coming for it first and then some performance suspension parts next.
If the 4 banger decides to die, I'll probably do the LS1 swap on the car instead of trying to repair such an expensive engine.

There's no rust on the car at all and is a good foundation to build on.
And again, thanks everybody as I'm still stoked with this purchase. I only paid 3K for the car but in it's condition (and I've check around for similar buys) it turned out to be a better deal than what I paid for the car.

*pinches self to wake up from this dream*

I took the day off so that I could do some work on the 944.
I spent about 5 hours on her with me adding a set of 7mm spacers for the rear to bring out the rears a bit. Like the Cavy, the fronts are perfect but even on the 944, they're kind of sucked in.
7mm was perfect and you can tell the difference in the stance. It's perfect until I get the rims I want.

I also had to repair a couple of rear bumper sail panels and they came out perfect once they were modded and fit. Nothing like keeping the car in pristine condition if at all possible.

And I took the front bumper off of the car so that I could remove the large rubber bumper covers that make the car look kind of weird. I love the look of the car now as it more resembles the 951 or turbo version with the clean front end.

And for all those wanting to see some pics of the ride in the daytime, here they are.

My favorite picture of the car and presently my wall paper.

I'm really happy with this car and can't wait to put more time into it and get it like I want.
It's dirty in the wheel wells and to me that's a no-no in my books. The interior needs better cleaning too which in time will come.
But I enjoyed the day off to work on Porsche (as in a girls name-the cars new name for me) and the results have pleased me immensely.

More little things this weekend and more work on the 'blu too.

Awesome car!! My roommate has that exact car, but in black! I've always loved the look of it. My other roommate has a 924 (931) that he converted to EFI, running on MegaSquirt. Definitely fun! Any big plans for it?

Nothing immediately. I've still got the Cavy project going on and at least a couple more years until completion. Once it's done, Porsche will get all the love and attention that the Cavy is now getting.
