Sounds to me for practicality, the cavy. and you say it is a 4 speed mt?
What motor is in the cav 2.0 or 2.8? 86 were 4 speeds 87 were 5 speeds at least on the v6's, but it could have been swapped. I'd probably trade....
No! Celica is a much better car, and you'd be getting jacked on a straight trade.
BTW, how does washer fluid break?

this what i would do
ask look at it check the oil for a blow head gasket ask to take throug the car wash to see if anything is leaking on the inside of the car. if you can live with smell then i guess keep the car you have
a 90 celica for an 87 cavalier, your really entertaining this idea? thats a bad idea, so much stuff you can do to that celica to make it look nice and run nice. maybe im wrong but i don't recall many bodykits or anything really for that old of a cavlier. i dated a girl with a 90 celica and it was a fun lil car, and he'r were even a heap. the windows wouldn't roll up half the time and it had bondo everywhere 4 colors of paint the trunk was dented and misaligned and all kinds of stuff , but mechanically it ran like a top and had hundreds of thousands of miles on it.
The celica vibrates like a @!#$, it also leaks, it has rust and accident damage, and its loud as @!#$, there is no making this car look good trust me. I will post pics of both. I think i am going to trade tho, the cavalier runs alot better and has less miles.

what do you mean by it vibrates? you talking abut from driving down the road, like maybe a cv shaft is bent of cv joint is shot? leaks what? and are there rust holes or just surface rust? and being loud are you talking about road noise, or possible exhaust leak? its hard to picture much worse than the car my ex had, hers almost looked like it drove down the rode about 15 degrees off center, and was in pretty bad shape, but stull ran like a mofo.

Well then the pump is broke. I've never seen any ind of liquid break without being able to repair itself...

Oh I'm cringing with a smile on my face lol... I used to have an '86 Cavy sedan in baby blue, no power windows or locks with the headliner tacked up. What a POS. It was like driving a tin can. Besides the mechanical problems, it handled like garbage in the rain, the brakes would lock so easily. In the 11 months I had it, it got new brakes & tires, but that didn't solve anything. It also couldn't corner well at all, I had to take ramps crazy slow & I got tailgated often. It didn't have a clear coat, there were tiny spots of rust, the driver's door & trunk leaked. The interior was in good shape, but was so basic, it didn't even have a cup holder or center console! The sides of the seats were vinyl & would burn my thighs in the summer, so I had to be really careful as to how I got in & out lol! It was blown around on the road by anything bigger that would pass, it felt like driving a basic, no-frills death trap really. Mine had about 156,xxx miles when it went up in a puff of smoke & I gimped it to a gas station where it wouldn't run again. Can't say I'd encourage anyone to get one, but they are cute!
neither car is anything to write home to mom about, I say do the logical thing. Sounds like the cav is in better condition
