Hyundai Tops the EPA's 2009 CAFE

Quote:

According to the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) latest fuel economy report, Hyundai is the most fuel-efficient automaker in America.

According to a press release, Hyundai surpassed every major automaker --even Toyota and Honda -- in Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards: “The EPA 2009 Light-Duty Automotive Technology and Fuel Economy Trends Report indicates that Hyundai has the highest MY 2009 laboratory 55/45 fuel economy with 30.1 miles per gallon (mpg). Hyundai is also the only automaker to top 30 mpg in the report.”

Not surprisingly, Honda has given Hyundai a run for its money in the fuel economy game. The EPA says its vehicle average 29.7 mpg (a close second to Hyundai’s 30.1 mpg figure).

I'm assuming this includes ALL vehicles by the manufacturers, including trucks/SUVs?

Yeah, I didn't rtfa

These results aren't that surprising then. For the most part, the more large vehicles you have, the lower you're ranked...

You can't be serious.

Hyundai doesn't have many fun to drive vehicles.

This "rating" is somewhat of a joke anyways. Especially since Hyundai has NO pickup's/large RWD suv's in the NA market.

You have to take into account that they have a v8 and large v6s in their line up, not to mention sizable SUVs too.
Also take account where Toyota was placed, they have an extensive list of trucks/suvs and still managed near 30mpgs.

Well i did say ROUGHLY...move a couple manufactuers around, but the majority of the list can pretty much stay right where it is. Swap BMW with Hyundai and that's what i was getting at lol.
