yeah i read about this too when they first starting coming out with the new body style
Yes, it is a known issue for a while, the difference is, it is now a recall. So if you're out of warranty now GM is required to fix it at no charge.

i thought the first 1's to blow their tops were the fixed roof Z06's ?
This has been a recall I thought?
I thought the Z06 only came in hard top? I've never seen a targa Z06?

they are all hard tops from what i remember....but from the recall the roofs wernt bolted or what ever they did to hold them down right
I was shocked when I first saw a car with the problem. The driver noted wind noise very early in the cars life. With a little investigation, it was pretty obvious it was an issue on a number of cars.
Dealers, that I know of, have long since contacted the owners of cars that had not been back to the dealer .
I wonder what criteria define the need for a "recall". I have witnessed that much of the time, issues are dealt with quietly with time. Even big issues and without the advertising. The politics of the recall cofuse me.
With my car, GM was rellentless in calling me to bring my car in for the rear pinion seal. I'll admit that I was tardy in bringing the car in as it was getting worked on at the time and my seal wasn't leaking anyway. This was before any advertised recall. They even went as far as to isist that they were not responsible for a wreck if I didn't bring it in.
It just seems to me that this was noted and dealt with some time ago. I suppose some vehicles could slip through the cracks.
I guess they offered a convertible Zo6 afterall

No the targa tops are a sandwiched peice glued together. The outter part would come unglued from the inside headliner part and fly off. Causing damage to other vehicles as well as the corvette.

i was talking about the z06's but i thought the targa top was glass..
The targa is plexi glass. Come on, you don't expect GM to do something expensive, do you? lol
So how does the fixed roof Z06 lose it's top? I can see the targa on the base C6 doing that, but the Z06 is hard top, yet included in this recall.
Holy hell, LOL. The roof done blow away *lol
