While I was scouring Craiglist for a new car I came upon
this.
Apparently Super Hicas is Nissans attempt at factory rear steer. No one may care. I just thought this was interesting.
Super HICAS
oh god... that rear steer is an absolute nightmare... the people that i know that have had them and the ones that ive seen come in the shop have had nothing but problems... p/s lines to the rear always rot out and leak and the rear steer never seems to want to center itself very well... cool concept and all just very poor execution...
i havent seen many of them (maybe 5 or 6) but all of them that ive seen or worked on have had issues with the rear steer... maybe someone else has had better luck... id personally stay away from it...
cool find none the less...

the rear steering becomes unpredictable when the car is on the edge of losing traction. Therefore, most drivers prefer to deactivate the system with an aftermarket HICAS eliminator kit
lol I remember one of my buddies having this on his old Prelude. Lane changes on the highway were @!#$ crazy!
yep, junk. In fact there are aftermarket eliminator kits.
A friend of mine still says his 240 was the best handling stock car he ever had, and he's gone though quite a few over the years.

240's handle great, theres no debating that. We're just recommending he steers clear of super hicas equipped cars.
most people that remove it, are drifting.... The HICAS can be great if you know how to drive a car.
...
No way Brian. The Nissan Super HICAS setup was crap from the beginning and they always crapped out. Every 240 near me, whether drifting or just street driven has HICAS removed. They are way too difficult to drive with that setup. That's why HICAS existed on 240's for such a short period of time.
I would never mess with it. Ive seen the Honda version of this but I think it was a good idea with poor execution just like the Honda system.

His was HICAS, who's to say that didn't play a role?
It might not be reliable, I don't really know myself, but it could be helpful when it's not being a PITA...

It's not really that helpful. Any highway driving with HICAS is Scaryyy. Around town its pretty much useless.
first thing I would do...is disable it...but my car didn't come with it...on purpose
when i was looking at Z32's, every one i saw had the HICAS disabled. it was a big flop by nissan.

I had the super hicas 240sx and just had the hicas bar welded to be solid and it was awesome after that
