I keep tossing around the idea of a 4 or 6 cylinder car vs a v8. I really think I prefer the smaller motored cars. I'm still keeping my eyes open to snatch up a nice Fox body or LS1..but for now I'm looking for a decent 240sx. Are there any other cars I should look into?
The cars are all going to be mid 90's, possibly older. So whatever I get, I need to have access to parts to at least restore it....I'd like to stay with a turbocharged motor.
If the damn things won't sell, Saturday I'm going to look at a 240sx chassis and a 300zx turbo(the older one).
Just wondering if there are other things I should expand with in my searches.
Also, most of these older cars have a little rust. How bad is this stuff on these older foreign cars?
240sx is nice. I had trouble finding one that isnt rotted out or beat to hell.
beat to hell = cheap
I wanna find a beat to sh*t 240, Corolla GT-S, or something RWD.. as long as it runs good, I dont care what it looks like... considering it'd just be slung sideways all over the Publix parking lot at 3am on my days off

do the best of both worlds.... LS1 swapped 240!
tuner look with the V8 rumble.
What about the good ol' straight 6 in the E30 BMW's? Can find half decent 325's for good prices.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

300 ZX is a good choice, and so is the 240 SX. If you want to stay turbo and cheap, you could look at a turbo Celica or Mk III Supra. I can't think of any factory turbo cars that Honda makes, because they haz VTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK yo. Not sure about Europe either.

That guy has my dream car, save for an LS2 Instead of the LS1.
When I'm done with the sunfire thats what I'm going to build.
gc subaru... they are cheap enough to purchase, easy to swap, and if you're bent on rwd, you can always weld the center diff and convert it.
^ make sure you get a wagon too. my brothers 93 impeza 4dr died(waterpump craped out) while he was moving down here, that's why i/he has a crapalier now.

yea, its a sweet car but he ripped the u-joint all to hell and took forever to get a new one. my sister said he wont get on it fully with her in the car
he traded a Honda Civic hatch (EG6) with a K20 turbo swap strait up for the RX-7..

Toss a turbo or 2 on it to help with the "tuner" image...

-Richmond ROD 6-speed(will get sometime)
-Posi 12-bolt(built w/eaton posi unit and richmond 3.73 gears)
-Disc brake and 5 lug swap
+little extras
What do you guys think about this? I called the guy to talk to him about it today. He seemed pretty damn knowledable about the car. It has no rust, paint is less than a year old. I'm not sure what else it'd need. I'd like to have the car tuned. Also, he said the car does not have AC any longer(he said there's a kit he can direct me at to reconnect it-he removed it with the turbo piping but said it worked prior). He's had the car for 12 years.

The guy said he's had absolutely no calls on it. Our area isn't exactly into vehicles like this. I'm hoping I have tomorrow off so I can see it..otherwise I told him I'd be there Saturday.
If anyone else would like to chime in PLEASE do. I'm seriously interested in this car. What do I need to look at specifically when I check the car out?
Whatever you do, for the love of chocolate chips and gravy boats don't go with a rotary engine.
Oh, and my vote goes for a Miata... But i'm biased.

Funny that I know a couple guys with decent powering, very reliable rotary's.... But hey, those stereotype and generalization thingys gotta be blown out of proportion by someone, why not that guy?

I love rotary's, but hate the APEX seals. The eating of engine oil is also quite amusing.

Reliable, until the apex seals take a dump at 100K.
I'd be up for a rotary powered vehicle. If I could find a decent enough turbo model I certainly wouldn't avoid it.
I owned a Miata and I loved it, but I had some problems with it. I would definitely own another one if I could find one for the right price but for now I'm looking for something different.
I got called off today, if my old man will ever call me back I'm going to go look at that 300. If that car looks solid enough I'm going to offer 3K. There was a 240sx shell I was looking into as well, but it sold already.
Have any of you bought cars off of ebay? How much is shipping? What type of protection is offered for you if you buy something, get it delivered and it's a piece of crap?

what's cool is it's the simplest, least moving parts combustion engine out there. SIMPLE to work on.

I bought the Cavalier I owned before my current one off of eBay. it was going for about half of what they were locally, so I contacted the guy and made an offer close to what he was asking. he accepted. I drove from central FL up to Cherry Hill, NJ to pick it up. I owned it for almost 4 yrs, did an Ecotec swap, '00+ front end conversion, Type J kit... put about $10k into it.. it was a good car, but the wiring was jacked up.. so I sold it to a friend who does wiring and bought the one I got now
if you pay thru Paypal, they get your back. if its not what the ad says, you report it and they'll dispute the claim for you

Good thing too, because you'll be working on it a lot! lol... I'm messin with ya man.
Rx7's are hot ass cars. I'm not so much a fan of the 1st gen's, but 2nd and 3rd are sweet. That's why I bought one, but then quickly realized I did not have the know-how to rebuild the blown engine.
