my guess is that Rabbit has a VR swap.. probably boosted. my sister's bf had a Mk3 Jetta GLX VR6 that was turbo'ed and would pull built Evo's and Porsches down I-75 all night long.. has video proof of it. he traded the car for an EG Civic hatch with a K20 turbo swap, but couldn't keep a clutch in it to save his life. he traded it for an LS1-swapped second gen RX-7
anyway, yea... that Rabbit could VERY easily pull both those cars... they're light as hell and VR6 swaps are becoming more common. a Mk1 with a bone-stock VR will run low 14s, high 13s with a good driver

yea VR6's a pretty damn fast. Going to visit my girl one time i ran across a flat black jetta with a golf front end. had a VR6 badge on the back. I thought pppffftttt its a Jetta cant be fast.... @!#$ killed me lol
Jay I don't get replies like that... if you had the money, would you not buy a nice car or "supercar"? Huge middle finger to those people who simply don't have the time or know how to build a sweet car like the Jetta, or just simply WANT the nicer, newer, whatever car they bought... Watch the video at 20 seconds in, they are filming the 996 form the Supra, sure the Supra is pulling a head but watch after the Rabbit passes the Porsche, there is a black car in the same lane behind it just sitting there keeping an even distance. they were not even pushing the cars there just screwing around.

maybe it's just the video quality, but it looks to me like they don't even go any faster than 90 mph. it really looks staged. im guessing the rabbit is accelerating from way back before the porsche and supra "gun it", so he's already going faster than them. if the rabbit were lined up next to the supra and porsche, they actually gave it some gas, the rabbit would be toast.
I like how alot of you are completely dismissing the fact that a Rabbit can and does tear ass... its the same logic of Honda guys using a CR-X, except alot cooler. considering I have driven VR-powered Rabbits myself, and see what the owners do that I'm too scared to do for fear of breaking them, I know for a fact that the Rabbit here has to potential to walk all over both of those cars

can't hold its own against those cars, im just saying that the video looks staged to me.
I'd more say the vid quality is a lil off.. and the cameraman sucks. cause there shots where you can tell they are really moving, and even if the Rabbit was coming up faster than them, both of these cars should be able to run him down pretty quickly if it was a stock Rabbit

I believe this video 100%. If the bunny is actually VR6 swapped and turboed then there are very few cars out there that would be able to keep up with it. Hell, with our differential our GTI would probably smoke both of them off the line as well...past 60 is another story with the 1.8 though lol.
I may be partial, but I think the MK1's are one of the most underrated cars around, imo.
