2004 Cadillac SRX (too many kms?)
Thursday, March 18, 2010 11:34 AM
I am thinking about going to have a look at this tomorrow. Any opinions on them? How is the Northstar engine? How are they over all reliability wise? Is 180,000kms (110,000 miles) to many to start with? Is the price too much for that many miles? Keep in mind that is Canadian, and for some reason cars cost more here.

Here is the link

2004 SRX

Thanks.

I actually kinda have some inight. My next door neighbor has a newer one that he has been leasing. I forget what part he said it was but sometime in it went out literally 4 or 5 different times that costed like 600-800 dollars a piece EACH time. Whatever it was that went out made the car really weak and he lost power steering and stuff. He didnt pay for any of it fortunately because of it haveing a warranty on it.

SOOO that is one with less than 30k miles that had problems. I wouldnt even consider it unless it has a warranty or something. It DOES get around alright in the snow.

I guess if you want some input. My parents have one in the v8 version. SUCKS GAS like no other.. Getting about 12-14 city.

beautiful truck though. Sticker was 56k but they got it used with about 4k miles on it.

Too bad its like any other gm product and its value drops like a bomb. They cant find a single dealer in town willing to give them more then 17k with only 20k miles (its a 07) with every possible option including the rare 2nd sunroof over the 3rd row

good luck

Gas mileage is not really an issue for me. Hell, 12-14 city is better then I get from the Sierra, so it would be a step up, haha

And yes, I know I ask a lot about a lot of different cars. Problem is, I just simply don't know what I want. I just know I want something else. 3 years it about all I can drive the same vehicle for, you know what I mean?

Honestly, it will likely take me a long time, and A LOT of looking to even decide what make and model car I want. Then I have to find one to buy. I have actually had a car search go in excess of a year, so this is nothing new. I just like to hear opinions, and real worth experience of other people.

Thanks guys.

Okay, I drove it, I really, really liked it. It has every possible option except the DVD system. But, I am still concerned about the mileage.

Is it too high? Will there be enough left for some years of reliable driving?

I made an offer, in the lines of $XXXX is the most I will pay. They didn't really like it, but I are humming and hahhing over it, as they know the mileage is high, and most people won't accept that. So, if they get back to me with a yes, should go for it? Or keep looking? Maybe pay more for less miles?

They are a PITA to fix (and not cheap, either)

If you gotta go Caddy, what about a 03-05 CTS?
