looks good man.
We all need somebody to believe in something...
It looks pretty clean, I bet your Cobalt's faster though LOL.
You planning on hoping that up or ya just gunna leave it stock and take care of it?
When I first bought the car I was told that it had the original turbo, to the untrained eye nobody would question it. I found out over summer that its actually a grand national turbo on it, not the TTA turbo. They look exactly the same the only way you can tell is where it says Garret on the turbo if its raised up its a TTA, if its engraved its a GN. So since its not original anyway I'm going to put the proper size turbo on it which is a TA49, the stock turbo is comparable to todays T25s its puny. Alot of guys put huge turbos on there like 67mm and 76mm, I dont have a need for that, I'm not trying to run 9s. The TA49 can take you well into the low 11s which is plenty fast for me and harder than I'll ever push it. The car also has ported stock heads with upgraded valve springs so might as well take advantage of that. Going to put alky on it as virtually everyone with a turbo buick engine does. Factory intercooler looks to be in decent shape, I'd like to put something else in and perserve the original and clean it up. Valve covers were already polished I want to do the plenum and TB as well to get everything shiny. Needs a new air filter pretty bad too, I'm going to put in the LS1 MAF. Reason being the MAF pipe which is the turbo intake is 3 inches, and the stock MAF is only 2.5 so theres a bottleneck there. Also the stock MAF is no longer available through GM, so if it goes bad I need to do another type anyway, makes sense to take it out and save it. Also the whole system being 3inch will improve things also.
Interior is pretty much bone stock other than the stereo upgrades, and the guage pod ill be putting in, all reversible if need be. Suspension needs some new bushings, lower control arms, chrome moly k-member maybe and would like to do some stainless lines on the brakes. Subframe braces need some touching up, moron that had the car in florida didnt think to paint them before installing them. Underbody is pretty good prob a 9 out of 10, could be much much worse considering the age and the habits of most 80s GM cars. What the car needs the most is paint, those pics dont show it but theres alot of little chips and dings that need fixing up to get it in top shape again. Its not a 100% original car and everything that will be done will pretty much look stock even though it may be upgraded.
Theres going to be a TTA reunion in OH in 2011, they are trying to get all the surviving ones to come out. Year and a half may seem like alot but its really not given everything I want to do.
