I know a lady that's planning to junk out a '97 Skylark. Its got some sort of issue with the catalytic converter. The car is kinda beat up looking, but I was wondering if the motor & tranny were worth yanking out before she calls the JY?
Are these a direct swap for the Z24 Cavy engines, meaning I can just plug & play it in a Z24 Cavy if I find one with a bad motor? What's this motor worth used to sell? Just tying to figure out some options before she calls the wrecker. Thanks.
OK, thanks. What year Cavys would it fit?
you might be able to pull $400-$500 out of the engine depending on mileage and condition etc. however... most u-pull-it's charge like $100 for a complete LD9 so you may not get jack for it.
that engine will work in ANY third gen j-body with the LD9 in it... just need to use the year specific manifolds and EGR as well as injectors etc... basically, the head and shortblock are good for any year. just swap over the recipient's accessories etc.
easiest and most direct drop in would be 96, 97, and 98.
All I want... is a little of the good life
Offer her 300 bucks.pull the motor, try and sell stuff from the car, then you send it to the jy.
its a LD9, not really

most u-pulls charge the same for any motor, really. now, the yards that pulls parts for you charge out the ass for LD9s.. dont really know why. I paid $800 for mine with 81k on it, and had it shipped 150 miles to my house. LKQ wanted $1000 for one with 181k on it... yes, 181k miles on it and wanted a grand. I guess it's cause they're getting harder to find in usable shape
