looking for a new car. need a list
Friday, May 28, 2010 6:32 AM
looking to spend no more than 15000 on a car. either want a 4 cyl turbo or v8. year 2000+. pretty much anything that would be a fun car to drive. any suggestions? so far ive looked at a 2000 trans am (not 100% sure if i want to buy it yet but its my best option so far) with the ls1. wrx. and srt-4 which i dont really want. any input would be great.

15000 and 2000 or newer....there is a ton of stuff you could get...

Wrx Sti, EVO...I'd pass on a SRT4..

I say go for an STI personally or if you can find a WS6 that wold be tits too...

Not unintentionally accelerating since 2009!!!!

I own an evo and personally I would not advise you go that route. They are very expensive to maintain and mod. I would actually reccomend maybe a cobalt SS. Give it a shot you may like it. Otherwise the WS6 looks tits!

I vote for WS6

Skip the WRX & get the Legacy GT! I like these threads where I can vote LGT haha

There's a WS6 in our stable & it's wicked crazy, but I'd never want to drive it. Guess I'm a baby haha.. but as a passenger, I don't know how my husband can tell where it is to drive it, it's like a big boat where you can't see anything. I'm only an inch shorter than him, so it's not that I'm tiny. Fun to ride in though, love having the tops off & everyone breaks their neck looking at it. The way the windshield curves often makes me feel a bit ill, I get motion sickness sometimes, but often feel gross in that car unless we're on the highway. We've got a love/hate relationship

What's the cars use? Just a more fun, higher class DD? GTO is not a bad option. Stout and reliable powertrain, comfortable ride, subtle styling, Speed when ya want it, creature comforts. I just don't know what you are looking for, but with your requirements and budget, if it's a DD, GTO would be my first option. 05-06 of course.

Those appear to be WRX to me, not STi. It's hard to find an STi under $15k unless it's got really high miles, and I mean high for a Subaru. Especially for something you know has been beat on.

isn't the only mechanical difference the transmission and higher boost? i personally think the WRX looks better and is better bang for the buck

yeah it is. i owned a wrx before with suspension, all upgraded turbo components, brakes, all kinds of stuff. i still got beat by a sti. yeah it was an 06 sti and mine was a 02 but still...

anyway yes JL it is going to be a DD. just lookin for a kinda fun DD to cruise around in. Thanks for the imput so far

C5 or GTO if a fun, moddable, comfortable DD is the option. If options and comfort and "grown up" thingys are more important, GTO wins that battle, but go test drive some C5's that might be for sale around ya. You would be surprised at what you can get them for.

ill have to take a look around then. right now im trying to have my parents look at some vehicles for me since im still in iraq. tried craigslist but all c5 corvettes are going for like 18-20. maybe ill just ride my bike around for awhile so i can look at some myself

18-20 is super high unless you start getting into moderate mileage Z06's. You should be able to find a reasonable mileage 00-02 for like 15-16 without trouble.

really depending on your credit. what you could do. is make a huge ass down payment, then pay a few months to show you established a loan and then pay that off with the rest of the cash you have. if you have enough self control to do it that way haha. and again, just depends on how your credit is at the moment.

my credit right now is at 716. thought that was pretty decent but that wouldnt be a bad idea. i just have a bad habit on spending money on stupid stuff when i know i have it. thats the good thing about being deployed i guess.

haha thats how i am sometimes and why i threw in that self control part. you know, pick up a vette. huge down payment, but hey headers are only xxx $, and then wheels are only xxx$, oh but i can get a great deal on an intake for xxx$..... i know the feeling lol

Re: looking for a new car. need a list
Saturday, May 29, 2010 12:37 PM
thats exactly what i mean. i put down 10k, keep 5 to pay it off with, next day i have rims and a turbo kit on order... im not very good with that especailly with a car.
