Storage

So I'm going to be storing my 2006 G6 GTP (which I happen to love - despite what others on this forum have told me) for the winter. I've done a lot of researchon proper preparations for storage but I want some input for certain things.

1)I've heard about the "Start" vs. "No-start" storage strategies, what are the pro and cons to both? I can't find anything on it.
2) I plan on jacking the car in the air, should I jack it up from the designated jack points and let the suspension hang, or jack it on some sort of suspenion component so as to have it in the air, but the suspension still compressed? I've seen conflicting arguments here too.

Any other input is appreciated also, it's my first time storing a car for an extended period (5-6 months, maybe 7)

Oh and

3) A lot of places say to change the oil before storing it, but when I got the car in like... July I did an oil change on it, and I've only driver 1200 KMs on that oil, and its Amsoil Full Synthetic 5w30 - worth changing the oil? (Considering its like $75 a change, and this oil is good for 25,000 miles or in my case 40,000 Kms). I would never wait that long to change my oil obviously, normally I do it every 8,000-10,000 KMs.

For 6-7 months you don't have a lot to worry about. I have done it many times and have had no issues. Just don't leave a lot of fuel in it. When you're done storing it change the oil and add a fuel tank of fuel to it. If you can have someone start it every so often that seems to work well. I've stored my car many times and never any issues. I've always had one start it twice or so a month. Being a newer car I wouldn't worry. If you're not going to have someone start the car disconnect the battery.

Yea only problem I ever had was pre-mature battery failure. 100% my fault and I knew it but was lazy. I didn't start my car nor keep a charge at all in the battery. A few years like that every winter and the battery just can't take it, unless its an optima.

i have a battery tender on mine. thats all i really do. full tank of gas, but since im dropping it i keep running it for a while to get it way down. i start mine once a week, just to keep it all lubricated, i leave it run for a while too, get some heat through everything. im leaving mine on the ground for about the 7 months not caring if i get flat spots because i need new tires immediately come spring lol.

my car sits for 8-9 months of the year and the only things i do are disconnect the battery, add fuel stabilzer to a 1/4 tank or less of gas and put my stock wheels on. i change the oil once im ready to drive it and put a trickle charge on the battery over night and its good to go.

I was planning on starting my car either every week or 2, but I saw on some sites that there are 2 opposing views. If I start the car once every 2 weeks, should I worry about the battery, and, how long should I idle it for, 10 minutes?

If you are going to start the car yea you need to make sure you let it run long enough to bump the battery back up. 10 - 15 min. I'm going to be starting my car this year if I remember to about once a week.

Full tank is better then empty tank, the more open space in the tank younhave the more room for condensation to form.

Have definately come across this statement on all of the sites I've visited. Will make sure to do so, and I will top up the fuel if I see it's getting low from idling.

thats what i did. i would run it then fill it up til i could see it in the neck. but like i said this year, im getting it as low as possible, so i can drop the tank.... again.... MAYBE even relocate it
