so as i seem to get every year around this time, i start itching for a different motorcycle
right now i ride a Kawasaki vulcan 900 custom
and i am happy with it, although i would like more performance in the corners and out of acceleration
so i have been looking at two different bikes
first being
the brand new yamaha stryker
high points are that the stryker comes in right around 11000 brand new and has the same feel as my vulcan, but with more power and better styling from the longer rake, larger rear wheel, etc
downside, 11 grand is a little on the high side for me for my second motorcyle, and with my trade in i would still look to be financing around 8 grand
second option being
the 2010 triumph thruxton se
i would have never considered this bike if i hadnt been watching HDnet so much lately. every time i see that ad running for the cafe racers i feel like i need to go give one of these a try. Well today i did just that
and let me tell you, it was a blast. More performance from the engine, and it was a dream on the corners, i could just breeze right through them, unlike on most cruisers
downside, im not sure how much more accelleration im actually getting over my vulcan, and im sure triumph parts are not cheap
not to mention it really is a whole different riding position, and after a 15 minute ride, my hands were already feeling like they had twice the pressure on them than i have while riding my vulcan
so here are my options,
i love my vulcan but may want a little more from a bike as its paid off this month
I have yet to ride the stryker because it has literally just came out, but have a test ride lined up for later next week, but the bike is basically a better version of the one i won now
and finally the thruxton, that is beautiful, but a totally different bike than im used to riding, athough as i would say at the end of my test ride on it today, im not sure that is a bad thing, not to mention the thruxton is a few grand cheaper than the stryker
give me your 2 cents will ya
The second bike is a red ex for whatever reason... but that Stryker is DEAD sexy.... atleast from the rear.
Have you ever ridden a V-Rod? Just wondering, love the performance and handling in the corners of my Night Rod
huh, the picture of the thruxton se was working before, here is another picture
and chris ive never riden a vrod, but have always been interested
last year i almost bought a yamaha warrior and i just ended up feeling like the bike wasnt right for me. ill have to go try out a vrod. I hear they are pretty competitively priced, especially for a used one
M109r...veictory vegas jackpot???
Not unintentionally accelerating since 2009!!!!
Ha that Vegas jackpot is about 8 grand out of my price range, but the 8 ball Vegas isn't too far out, maybe I'll consider it
Victory's are smexy
Not unintentionally accelerating since 2009!!!!
but they all look the same and all have the same engine! not that thats bad because its a nice engine and a nice look
I love Cafe Racer style bikes, but I also like cruisers.
What type of riding do you generally do?
mainly around town riding, and the occasional hour or two ride
thats all im affraid of, is that the thruxton will get a little uncomfortable on longer rides
V-rods are very nice. My dad has been riidng his whole life, hes had a countless number of v-rods. Recently he bought a victory, had it for about a year and went back to the new vrod.
check into them.
Saab Kit, GM Reflash, 10 psi
@!#$ sorry for the double post, I meant to say v-star, not v-rod.
check into a v-star lol.
Saab Kit, GM Reflash, 10 psi
Ah that makes more sense. I was going to say that vrods have not been around for very long, he must be indecisive haha
Yamaha does make nice bikes though
