J wheels on a VW?

I'm in the process of parting out my 2nd gen, and someone wants to buy the wheels & tires for their VW. Both are 5x100 bolt patterns, but I thought the VW had a smaller hub bore than GM & Chrysler cars. Can anyone confirm this?

Smaller is not an issue... they make hubcentric rings for that...
