well, i bought an 84 RX-7 GSL for $200 last year. i figured at that price, i can scrap it and part it out and make a profit on it if i need to, and lets be honest, no one is going to pass up their favorite car for 200 dollars running or not. right now i don't really know what the hell i want to do with it. it turns over but wont start. i would love to do restoration, but i feel like the rotary housing are trashed in it. so iI'mthinking maybe an engine swap, but i don't know what kind of swap i want to do. i think it will be a fun project if i ever get around to doing it.
that yellow wire is holding up the exhaust that is broken
i have my whole life ahead of me to do this, so i guess I'm not in any rush. let me know what you all think!
Sweet cars, I always wanted one. Was there a turbo model for this year? I'm not up on my RX-7s. Anyway if there was I don't think you have any other engine options, lol.

yeah, there was the 13b turbo i believe. this is the 12a. and there are a few swap options. chevy 4.3 v6 (the swap im thinking of), chevy v8 and ford 5.0. all the other rotary engines are also able to swap into it.
but who knows, i may end up scrapping it or selling it. like i said, for 200 dollars i just couldnt pass it up
Ah...drop a 4.3 in it.
Itll be fun and a cheap swap.
thats what i have been thinking. 4.3 are beyond plentiful here in michigan
ahhh so many different swaps. maybe ill start ripping stuff out of the engine bay this spring break and start painting it, just to see if i can paint
i had one crazy idea, but it would be a PITA. ECOtec swap. favorite engine in my favorite car. but that wont happen. im still leaning towards the 4.3 swap, especially since my dad has a GMC jimmy that has a body that is about to fall apart

Oh god I wish. Such a beautiful engine
Solstice/Sky turbo motor & drivetrain ]:->
thats what i though about, but i dont think ill be getting my hands on any of that anytime soon
the vortec 4.3 is a decent engine as long as you like doing gaskets, fuel systems and the like. no aftermarket tuning or support. would be better off maybe looking into a 3800 or even better a 3500. less weight more power and some tuning capability since I doubt you need the emissions bs. subd either way.
Hmm, maybe ill look into the 3800. I figured the 4.3 would just be easier to get ahold of. Never knew that had that many problems. Learn something new everyday!
i would maybe look into a 3500 if staying NA versus boosted. better efficiency even if not the aftermarket of the 3800.
don't get me wrong, i love my 4.3's but you have to be ready to work on the fuel system. 260 ftlbs would be sweet in a lightweight like that
And grannysspeedshop has a swap out for the 4.3. I have time to think about the engine. Gotta save up the money first. I'll probably start in the summer after school is over coz ill have some money from graduation. But im gonna be saving up as well.
if a 4.3 fits a 5.7 fits... save your dollars, the engines and wiring etc are cheap b/c all the trucks used them. look at a 98 or 99 engine. rebuild if you want, its cheap to re-ring etc
a friend just got a running 5.3 with harness and ecu for $550. Cheap. Reliable.
FU Tuning
i could use that for my 62 impala I am rebuilding!
do you have a build thread for the impala? id like to see it. and the 5.7 comes in the suburbans and what not, correct?
I vote 4.8 or 5.3 ls series motor....cheap, plentiful, and easy to make power.
