never drove one cuz they are soo expensive new

even expensive used! that's the good and bad part about toyotas. they hold their value really well but you pay for it up front. i paid just over 15k for a loaded 2002 gt. sticker price was 18k...blue book private seller was right around 15,500. i was happy.

I looked at GTS before i bought my Prelude. I liked the looks of the interior alot, but it came down to the fact that i felt too cramped. Both the GTS and prelude were a blast to drive though.

How is the Sport Shift models of the GT-S? I'm looking at those and a few other cars as a daily driver. Any problems with the Yamahammer in the GT-S models?

Just from I have heard.....stay away from Progressive Insurance. Bad claims service among other things. Just an FYI.

2005 celica GTS New $29,856.00
redline 7,500 rpms
shifting from 5th to 2nd by accident and destroying your car: priceless

would like to note: I see this about once a week, and no when your car hits 10,000 rpms when you misshift it is not covered under warranty. They might do it the first time but they can tell....its definently not worth your money.....sure they CAN be fast.....but not very reliable.

as for the short shifter in the GT-S.....all I can say is its really short, drove one that came into my work, and it didn't feel like it had any play problems.....don't know what kind of short shifter he had though....

the gt-s automatics w/ sportshift aren't that much faster than gt automatics. it is kinda fun to shift your own gears w/ out a clutch but don't expect it to keep up with a manual gt-s or gt for that matter.

the 1zz and 2 zz are really good engines. only problem i've heard about the 2zz is the lift bolts tend to wear out early on the '00-02's.

Wow, that much drain that it won't outrun an GT? Hmmm. Well, I guess I'll have to go test drive them with a blind eye, so to speak. I really wanted to get an auto for daily driving activities.

5speed GT > Auto GTS
5speed GT> Auto GT
6speed GTS> any GT

so yeah, if your getting a GTS, get the 6speed.

So, why is it, the extra weight? I liked the system when I first saw it, but I was concerned about having to tear it apart in 70,000 miles because of failing parts. Is it electrohydraulic, or servo controlled? It is pretty trick though.
