Well I guess your new because I even learned this the hard way.

The Safc's are GARBAGE they don't work with our cars they just screw @!#$ up.
I had one and all they allow you to do is adjust timing while your thinking that
you are actually adjusting the fuel and @!#$. But no don't waste your money and
if you already have well sell it and try to get back what you can for it and get
something better and useful for our cars.

Yes, currently HP Tuners (and EFI Live if they truely support us yet) is the best way of tuning, if you're skilled enough to use it.

so this does not adjust fuel at all? when I dynoed my car forever ago and just had it installed and the a/f curve did change with adjustments...was I imagining this?

no it will change timing but on our cars the ecm also changes timing baised on vacume aka the map sens. so wile your changing the fuel curve you are also changing the spark tables and if your running boost or nos this is a verry bad thing

so if I'm pulling fuel, am I advancing or retarding ignition timing? If I'm adjusting fuel so that I'm pulling timing at full throttle/high rpm/boost, wouldn't that be even better for boost?

You aren't pulling or adding fuel at all, and it doesn't adjust anything in boost, so the SAFC doesn't do ANYTHING in boost situations since the MAP sensor is already maxed out as soon as you hit boost.

I meant as I was supposedly decreasing or increasing fuel in the SAFC, what was it actually doing? And does it only make adjustments in open loop? ...guess I'll be putting it up on ebay...
