in case nobody was aware i got curious and used hpt to license and flash a 2001 2.2l man with the gm s/c reflash, and everything appears to run fine. i did revise the programming to match what my 2200 had. this will make turbo tuning on the 2200 ohv much easier.
"...and then God said let the 2.2's have potential. Thats when hell broke loose..."
I was curious about if this would work...... now time to try flashing an eco with the 2.4 tune.
road test confirmed. this works 100% with no problems. on another note cars with turbos are fun
"...and then God said let the 2.2's have potential. Thats when hell broke loose..."
dont think its try it on a eco , they have different pcms
Youre SURE this works with the 2200?
If so... damn, I was going to turbo it, but I didnt have anything to tune it with, now im swapping an eco.

If its an 2002 it may work. the 03+ im sure it wont work.
Anybody have a 02 ECO local to me willing to try and see
ill sacrifice some credits
So it works? Crazy.
O noes!
ROFL, seriously we need the 2.4 S/C tune on an Eco
Petey-J if this works I am sending you a 40oz, just let me know what you want, Colt 45, Cold 45 Dbl Malt,,, Steel Reserve??

I've always wondered this but i find it har to beleive.......hope to hear of others running this on the 00-02 ln2 motors as this will eventually help me out alot.
Crazy.....8 years later. Good news for the slow people..lol.
fast, reliable or cheap. choose two.
I would make sweet love to someone finds a way for this to work on the 03+ eco.

still nobody else tried this yet? im still runnin ok with no problems. im not sure if i clarified it enough that you have to download one of the definition files and then license it in hpt to be able to write it to your vcm. it seems the standard and s/c calibration are exactly the same except referencing the map instead of tps, and double map resolution. every single table size and parameter are identical otherwise. if the eco calibration is the same as the 2.2 or 2.4 then i dont see why it wouldnt work.

So you flashed your 2200 ECU w/ the 2.4 s/c reflash or the eco s/c reflash? I know where there are 2 spare eco ECUs in a yard, I would be willing to try it. I'm not sure why GM would have gone to the trouble to write a new eco s/c OS though if they could have just used the 2.4 on newer ECUs.

so what map sensor are you using? the stock 2200 or, I would assume, whatever one the 2.4 s/c uses?

just making sure we are clear its the 2.2l ohv motor not a 2.2l ecotec that im talking about. i used the gm 2.4l twin cam s/c reflash from from a 2001 car. my car is a 2001 model year. both cars are manuals.
im using acdelco p/n: 12580698. it isnt exactly the same shape as the stock one, its a little bigger and has a hook on both sides instead of one, but still fits where the stock one went.
looking at gm 2.4l s/c calibration file in hp tuners, i dont see why auto owners who were told they couldn't use this can probably copy their factory transmission settings into the s/c reflash calibration and use it with an automatic tranny.
i do not believe any of the ecotecs can take advantage of this, only the older motors
"...and then God said let the 2.2's have potential. Thats when hell broke loose..."
if it flashes to the pcm the only issue you'll probably have is throwing a cam sensor code. I think the Eco and LD9 use for the most part similar sensors all over. I think someone on here once used a 2.4L wiring harness on an eco they swpped into their car.
So this should be workable as well.
-Trailblazer SS - not so custom 6.0L - custom intake - custom tune
- (1) 2.4L on an engine stand (1) blown trans (2) good quad trans (1) eco trans = party
has anybody else tried this yet?
Mr.pute and I tried the 2.4S/C program on an Eco about a 14-17 months ago.......we didn't get it to work correctly
I would think that some thorough datalogging with WB o2 readings would be prudent before making a statement like this. Just because the car is running, doesn't mean that the car is running safely.
To me, this seems like an attempt to shortcut doing a full proper tune for your specific engine.

5+ weeks now with datalogged 02. and i still havent changed the factory fuel pump. the injectors and fuel pump have supported a 10.1 a/f (i know way too rich) with no problems at all
no check engine lights for missing sensors, no computer glitches or problems, and everything still works exactly as it should. im still working on final tuning details but im convinced it works 100%
