Corsa Instruments, Data Logger Systems

I am reviewing a product that my parent company wants to help fund. It is Corsa EZ-Logger.

I was wondering if anyone has heard of them, and what is any experience you have had with them. I have a sample package sitting in front of me. It seems to record a lot of data.

They also make a product called...IntelliDash
IntelliDash display features:
* Peak hold and recall on RPM, pressure, temperature
* Engine RPM (digital and graphical)
* Pressure (oil or boost)
* Temperature (water, CHT, or EGT)
* Battery voltage (low, OK, high)
* Vehicle speed
* Display flashes if reading is out of limit - high temperature, low pressure

Programmable Features:
* Tach red line
* Alarm for high temp, high/low Pressure
* Shift light output

Just seeing what you all think.

Well, first off, with a wallet-busting, no, wallet-"shattering" price tag of over $3300 it immediately does not seem viable for your average at-home tuner. Yes, it offers a plethora of data-logging options, but not enough to justify that price tag when compared to an HPT or MegaSquirt type application. Even outside of available standalones with similar capabilities, a person could put in a wack load of dyno time for significantly less. I think this product is pushing quite heavily the wireless download feature, but for me personally, plugging one wire into my laptop never really seemed all that exhausting or inconvenient.

So, if that price tag is in fact correct, you will never see a single person on these forums sporting one. However, I don't get the feeling that that is the aim of this product anyhow, but that it is more directly targeted at race-specific vehicles. To reiterate though, for literally thousands less, there are well-known, well-tested, well-documented comparable options available.

But, it's pretty sweet that you get to play with one...

^^^^That is almost word for word what I told the president of my company yesterday. He didn't seem to pleased.

I just wanted to make sure I was not off base.

I think you can do alarms with HPT E I/O ports (through LEDs), I would like one for over boost as well as knock retard, but haven't had time to play around with it.

Yep there are 4 outputs i think.... i think relays may be required tho. I was thinking about putting an LED in my stock cluster by the tach as a shift light only problem is... i would have to have hpt hooked up to use it.

Not sure what your purpose is, but there are other products which will plug into an OBDII port to log data. What I've sometimes found with the expensive racer designed products is they're built for a guy that doesn't want to waste time getting too technical, so when you want to do something a little outside the box with the product, it can be tough to get it to cooperate.
