If i get HPT would i still need to use msd?

if you want boost related ignition retard, then yes you still need MSD
I have so many more questions. thing is, i am going to need to tune my car once its done. i know NOTHING about tuning, but i would like to learn and get HPT so that i can do it myself. where do i start?
start by picking up some books about engine computer tuning, efi systems, nitruos systems, etc. Once you have a good grasp on how the systems work....then try to slowly modify your cars tune.
Or just jump in way over your head and learn how to swim
