HELP! Need to get to class!
Tuesday, March 03, 2009 6:55 AM
Last night I finished installing some 440 cc injectors. Brand new. I started the car, it idled a little lean, but I changed my injector constant and that helped. When I started it up this morning to go to school, I started misfiring on Cylinders 1 and 4. I know it wasn't doing this before the injectors and it wasn't doing it last night. What could be wrong?

Could I have switched wires when putting on new connectors for the injectors causing this?

Car is an '03 Ecotec.

I just reviewed my HPT log, it's misfiring on Cyl 2 as well.

Was the car warm when you started it and it was lean? Sounds like you fouled your plugs...

Three of them? I'll pull them real fast and check. How long does it take to foul them?

Also make sure the injectors are seated right and that rubber seats are in right. I had trouble before with getting some injectors in right and it was misfiring. Seemed to be because of how I had them seated, unless it was just a coincidence. Call me if you want a better explanation.

^ I just reseated them. Are you talking about the little o rings?

It's not a constant misfire if you review the log. Which is the more likely culprit?

How did it perform after you re-seated them? Not the o rings around the injectors, but the seats (with bigger o-ring around them) that you seat the injectors into. Actually check both if you want.

It could also very possibly be the plugs, but since you said it was running lean before instead of rich, I would think it wouldn't be as likely they would all go this quick unless you're running really rich now.

I just realized that last night I didn't have my icm connected when I tried turning the car over several times because I'm dumb. I pulled the plugs and they were black. Like. BLACK. I'm thinking that's probably the issue.

I'm still misfiring on cylinder 4. I had some spare plugs I put in.

Were the spare plugs gapped right? Used?

They're used. I'm going to switch two of them tonight to see if the misfire moves, if it doesn't, I'll switch #3 and #4 injectors and see if it moves. At least then, I'll know which is the problem.
