If you read throught the manual he explains to you when and how sequential injection is benefitial. The system is really pretty cool, not hard to put together at all. I'll tell you how tuning it is after I install it this weekend.
FOR SALE: 8:1Vortec FMU
Tuning is pretty straight forward, although doing it in the cold absolutely sucks. I'm still getting my cold enrichments sorted out.

ya I spent a couple of hours reading a ton of info provided on their website and faqs, sounds like a real quality system and perfect for the DIY'er that dosn't like huge price tags
I think that the Ultra Mega Squirt is the one to wait for though, faster processer, improved control over wideband, stepper motor IAC...

I would not wait for ultra megasquirt it will be a long time before its ready for sale .
Check out the features of megasquirt'n spark extra .There are some very cool features in it
My megasquirt install is almost comlete just need some darn vacume hose.

Thats exactly what I've been running the past month or so. After a little version mismatching (my mistake), I got the code flashed and the software upgraded and the feature list is on par with most standalones. But that damn ignition support.....

i hear that it is cheap and effective. i'd use it if i hadn't gone with Powerhouse Racing's MAP ECU

Hey excitium whats wrong with the ignition support? you mean not being able to use dis?
Robbie c wrote:Hey excitium whats wrong with the ignition support? you mean not being able to use dis?
i think you have to switch to an MSD ignition system to be compatible

I have a few questions about it Excidium. I don't want to address them on this board because it is relevant to an ion redline. Please e-mail me with the title "ion redline fuel questions" to Chickswantme03@aol.com. thanx in advance
Well, from MegaSquirt I ordered the MegaSquirt partial kit, the Stimulater kit, and the Flyback board kit for low impendence injectors.
From DigiKey I ordered the component kits for all three above.
and I ordered a box from HdB Electronics part # LMB EAF-300 case
Is there any thing else that I will need?

Pushrods & Nitrous! your also going to need wire for the harness ,and the most obvious solder and an iron.
Almost forgot you'll need some heat sink compound also.
I got the solder and iron covered, but what kind of wire harness? I read something about a VGA cable is that what you mean?
Where can I get heat sink compound? and how much of it do I need?
thats a lot of questions, but I want to do this right, thanks for the help

Yes.

I have zero experience with the ion redline's. But any MS question is game in this thread. So ask away, or check out msefi.com for a more complete answer. I'm sure theres a few people there who're in the same boat as you.

Don't worry, the connector/harness is included in the Digi-key kit. You will be doing some connector soldering when you install the MS in the car. This will most likely be after you finish building the MS circuit board. The connector will bring in all the various inputs you'll need for the MS from wherever you choose to get them from under the hood(MAP, TPS, IAT, CTS, etc). It's a snap, provided you are -very- careful about getting the wires on the right pins.
As for heatsink compound, ANY electronics store should have it. Radio slack included
. Realistically you'll only need enough to cover the size of an average postage stamp, which is not much at all.

ok cool, thanks
Can you explain a little why is can't be used with DIS?

I am getting a ion redline, but will be switching to turbo for various reasons. Do you think this program would be able to supply the extra fuel beyond 2 bars? I am thinking about getting the Gm intake manifold with the extra injectors and controling the extra ones with the Megasquirt system? What are your opinion's?
I believe that it come with a 2.5 bar MAP, and you could buy a bigger one if you would know how to program the MS how to read it

2 things bug me about this.. a. the thing says it provideds real time fuel calculations.. is that real to me and you or real to the engine.. because when the engine is moving at 10,000 rpm's.. realtime is a bit relavent.. and b. it says you can use either a regualar o2 sensor or a wide band o2 sensor.. im not fully informed on thigs, but i do know there is a marginal diference between a normal and wide band.. if this product really can use both then i definitly give it a thumbs up..

The reason why DIS cannot be used on a third gen cavalier is because the crank sensor goes in to the pcm and then it has two seperate ignition chanels comming out going to the ignition module.
Yes, it can really handle both narrow and wideband. For a wideband, you must use a wideband controller (no need for data logging, as the megasquirt logs on its own). It can be used with many standard wideband controllers, or the diy-wb controller. You can pretty much get it to do anything you want, it's just a matter of how much you know about programming and circuit design
. My megasquirt will be here in a few days, however it's for my eagle talon, so there's some differences. The megasquirt is great, and can handle 10k rpm's without issue. I will let you know how things go with my talon, and depending on how well it really goes, I may be putting one into my cavalier as well.

forgot to say that there is no software writen to work with the 7 notch crank wheel ,also there is no hardware to work with our crank sensor or the two ignition outputs .
But i'm working something out for that.
