Ok, I'm getting pretty tired of going through batteries because my alt can't make enough power at the low 600 RPM idle speed. Manual transmission cars come in at 900 idle and HP Tuners can change the speed, but costs $500. Anyone got another way to change this setting? Anyone in the Pittsburgh area with HP Tuners I could pay for credits to do it for me? I've got a 250 AMP Mechman alternator, Big Three upgrade, smaller alt pulley, and have burned up 2 Optima batteries so far.
get rid of your optima battery's there garbage.... get something else im sure you can find better.. i went through a yellow top once already but refuse to buy anymore...

yes but the ecu will compensate the adjustment you do with the idle control valve so it doesnt do anything....

I'm still running the second battery that I've ruined. It's got enough left for starting for now, but it needs to be replaced very soon. Any recommendations that won't break the bank?

because its a throttle stop, NOT an idle adjustment screw.

Close the Iac all the way.
Unplug it,
Then adjust the idle screw.
Problem here is that you will need more air from -40f to 160f,
so if you can adjust it at 30f to make it idle 600-700 rpm (if that will even work)
When it warms up chances are that it will bump upto like 1200 rpm (maybe not that high)
I've never done it, but in theory it sounds good.
If you really wanted to get into it,
Depending on what type of iac you have, you could make push buttons and wire those directly to the iac.
Push Up= +10 steps?
Push Down = -10 steps?
