Tuning a stock engine?

Has anyone tuned the ecotec completely stock?

Minus a cold air intake, mine is stock, and just wondering what numbers could be put down?

There was a dyno out there somewhere ( i wanna say by BlackEco or something like that) that showed an 8whp gain with ignition tuning an 93 octane.

Changing the PE delay and tuning the VE tables should yield some kind of gain, but I've not seen dyno evidence of this. In addition, there was a huge thread in this forum about the trend of more modern engines like the eco towards leaner conditions. Only a dyno is going to tell you where the sweet spot AFR is on a given engine, but it may not be as rich as we used to think...

Once it warms up i'd like to tune a bit leaner then my current 12.8-13.0:1, maybe something like 13.5-14.0:1 at wot...

Yea so if you just want the quick HP gain, i would get a wideband and someone local with HPT and give them the hundred bucks for the credits.

If you are going to be continuously modding your car, "maybe" hpt is worth the 650. Your judgment call.
