Pre 99 GM Reflash
Sunday, March 14, 2010 12:17 AM
Im about to get my 98 pcm reflashed to a 99 so that it will be possible to get the s/c reflash on there. I know I will lose some gauges, but I was wondering if I the low imp style injectors would function the same or if I'd need to add a few resistors. Anyone have experience doing this?

You 98 PCM is a completely different P/N than the 99 PCM. The only reason the GM 00-02 LD9 reflash works on the 99's is because it is the same PCM.......

99's already have the skinny High impedance injectors, and the smaller starter motor......

I do not think the 98 PCM can run the 99 program.....

Well I just swapped over to the 99+ 2 wire knock sensor, and I'm pretty sure according to this post that all I have to now do is reflash to a 99 auto. (sweetness and several others did it)

All I was asking was if my stock low imp style will work or i'll have to do something such as add a few resistors

Yes, but Chris is using a 99 PCM....not a re-flashed 98 PCM.

The benifit to this is that now I have a '98 and '99 knock sensor on my car, so when I switch my PCM from the '98 to the '99, the change should be seamless as the only change to the harness that was made was no EGR and a 2 wire knock sensor.

Thanks Dave, and Chris is most certainly running a reflashed 98 pcm, it's right in the post.

I know on my 99 Auto that it will run a 00-02 GM relfash, but it will not run a 97 auto Z file.

To clarify.....
Your 98 PCM my run the 99 Program, but I do not think a 99 PCM will run a 96-98 Z Tune.

Thanks Dave, I pm'd Gary, but he's also running a Tec, not hpt so I 'm not really sure his situation relates.

just run the style injectors that came with the ecm (OEM)..... the reflash is just a program, it changes nothing with hardware inside the ECM that controls current and voltage.
