At what point is tuning required?
Wednesday, November 17, 2010 8:52 PM
Currently i have a CAI, pacesetter head 4-1, and a magna-flow 2.5 cat-back exhaust system. I plan on getting rid of the pacesetter down pipe and making a custom one, and customizing the header to get rid of the ball-joint and adding a flex joint. I'm also planning on either a high flow or cat-delete, and adding a wide-band sensor into the down pipe.

With these upgrades would i require a tune? I know it would be best but i'm still saving up for hptuners.

I was also thinking about a bored throttle body and larger injectors, which i know would require a tune.

So what should i do, wait till i get the tuner or go ahead and do the exhaust?

do the exhaust first, the tune wouldn't help enough for it to be worth it

exhaust injectors then tune immediately thereafter.

you will be happy.

if you take out the cat you'll need a tune to turn the cel off, but with bolt on's a tunes not necessary. and you dont need the wideband unless you're gonna tune.

A tune will help just about any slightly modified car. It just depends if the money is worth it to you.

I'm getting the tuner its just a matter of when. These are all supporting mods for a project that i am saving up for and planning on doing this summer.

Supporting mods for a project and they include a header. Looks like someone is getting blown (or juiced I guess). Wait until your mods are done to tune, unless you're tuning it yourself.

I would tune the stock engine if I could... I'm sure you could get an improvement..
