My local shop says you can't retune a 2005 cavalier 2.2 eco. Anyone else ever heard of this? They said that both the 2005 and 2006 are impossible to tune.
First off cross posting is frowned upon on this forum. Second there is no such thing as a 2006 cavalier. Third, it is possible to tune using HP Tuner.

...and can be tuned with EFI live and Trifecta. I personally would use HPTuners or EFI Live.

The crossposting was accident and I have yet to research how to remove the forum lol I'm sorry guys. I also know that there's no such thing as a 2006 cavalier, I'm just saying what Quickrev's tuning system came up with when they tried to look up my car. Anyone have purchase links to those tuning programs? I really just want to remove the rev and top speed limity. MAYBE have a professional tweak it a little so I can run cams. What would be best for that?
Maybe they were confusing it with a Cobalt??? I know the earlier 2.2 Cobalts don't have HPTuners support.
Currently #4 in Ecotec Forced Induction horsepower ratings. 505.8 WHP 414WTQ!!!
Currently 3rd quickest Ecotec on the .org - 10.949 @ 131.50 MPH!!!
i know i wasnt able to tune my buddys 05 2.2 cobalt. they probably just assume all 2005-2006 2.2s arent tune-able. ive tune two 02 cavaliers, so i know it is possible
Any difference in ecu between 02 and 05?
02 and 05 yes but 03 and 05 no....
02 eco's had some small differences.
I'll look into the hp tuner device then. I just dont want to spend 650 on something and find out it doesnt work. Will it take a whole lot of adjustment just to put a cam in it?

If you can't answer that question on your own, then maybe you should not attempt to tune it...

Tell them to pretend its a '04. The only difference between the '02 and '03+ is the fuel rail.
John is correct... I am originally from Dayton, and I am there time to time to visit family. When I am there, I use Quick Rev's shop. The owner is a good friend of mine. I tune on his Dyno Dynamics. What all is done to the car?

Quickrev is who told me they cant touch an 05. Its not what IS done to the car, its what id like to do. Im a 19 year old kid and I make GREAT money. I can buy anything I want for the car, but its the fact theyve told me I cant go past exhaust and intake without a retune thats held me back. Id LIKE to go eith a full exhaust, full intake and intake manifold, cams, and any other bolt on applications I can do without tearing apart the bottom end. Everything listed above, I can have in a months time. But I wont order any of it until I know for 100% sure that I can even use it.
Your car can be tuned, and Ryan is the man to do it.

PuhhhThat being said, do I need to look into getting an hptuner, or does the shop use theur own software?

Ryan already has HPTuners, so no need to buy it. I would PM him on here with exactly what your wanting and verify his charge etc...

What size cam would be safe on a stock valvetrain?
Even with just a stage 1 from comp cams?
