Thank you for the attempt.

I'm still working on a software, but I NEED the key algorithm. If you know where I can find it, or if you are in better with Chris or Kieth, please could you find some information about it for me? I made posts on obdproject but its not all that active of a board yet. I do have somebody working on a cable, but I'm stuck at the key algorithm.
I could really use your help on this, and if I sell it, and I can get your help with the algorithm and the bootloader/reader, I'm more than willing to cut you in on it.

I really don't know how I can make my point any better...
Heck.. greed ought to motivate them..
But these are people I've known for a while, and I can only offer my opinion. I hope they respect my judgment enough to at least check it out. But that V8 answer kinda says it all....
Maybe our best bet is to develop a 4 cylinder tuner program and not rely on V8 tuners to come up with what we want. After all, it wouldn't be the first thing we had to design for ourselves..
I'm lost.. I spent the better part of 2 years putting this together and I really can't say where its going now..
I'm truly sorry for everybody who's hopes I got up. I know this will work out in the end, but its not what I expected at all. I fully expected them to see what this market offered and jump on it..
I will say though.. some of the other posts you've seen are no close to offering 4 banger support. And HP at least has the stuff figured out and ready to run - if they would just release it.
Really.. all we need is spark and fuel for now.. tranny stuff later. We can live without 10,000,000 tunable parameters like the V8 guys like to have. Give us the basics..
Long ago we figured out how to work around the other stuff...

Shifted: I know nothing of those things.
I am a hardware person, rather than a software one.
I can make cables talk, but I don't know the code. However.. I do know how to figure out what you need - if you have access to certain things. After all I do chase hackers for a living...
But.. I won't do anything until I give Keith and others a chance to make this work. After a year of delays I'd say another 3 months is good. They can at least offer something - even a datalogger might appease people...... their experience is much greater than anything we could come up with in a few months.

Well any help is more than appreciated, I know they have the formula, and the last thing I want is to take business away from them. I don't pretend to be a guru, and I know I'm not even close to having something, but I think that if I can dump the PCM, and reflash it, all I would need is to figure out where the fuel and spark tables are and we'd be miles ahead as far as tuning goes on our cars.
I have access to Ida Pro, so picking through the dump isn't a concern to me, I just have to learn 68832 as a second language
.
I have a couple seed/key pairs, but you can imagine how difficult that is to figure out an algorithm from without access to the source. I know there are a number of people who know how to get the key, HPT is one of them, and the BeyerCh guy on the forums is the other that I know of. The BeyerCh's email is no longer valid, so I've been trying to find him.
I do plan on having one hell of a datalogger out within a couple months though, written specifically to tailor to the J's...
Which would lead me to the other question, you wouldn't happen to know where to find the PID scaling information would you? I'm going to ask GM, but I don't have any real contacts and asking through thier website will probably get me a lot less than anything I can find on the net myself.
If I got a PCM, would it be possible to just unsolder the EEPROM chips and read the memory through a chip flasher? Am I at least on the right path here?

your on the path I was on. Map things, and figure out communications later. If you look at the early posts it was pulling the chip and modding it, then putting it back.
I won't go any further here but I might elsewhere

thanks robo for your help.
hey HP lets do some math.. its easy.. the product is all the same price so its all based on #'s to overcome fixed costs (R&D)... is there a HUGE waiting list for the LS2 support? are you the only tuning product made for platform? will you have 100% market share? NO, NO, NO, NO, NO....
am I gonna go out and spend $40,000 on a car and possibly mess it up... ok no sorry. teh gay.. anyway OBD1 here I come..
i dont understand some people..
Sven you totally quarterloafed your computer..
huge market here they are ignoring... thousands of dollars they are throwing away

we apprciate your help robo
hopefully they will wake up
someone else will jump on the boat and they wont, i wont feel a bit sorry for them, i think why there is so much going on right now is that we are in the middle of a revolution right now. The V8s of the mostly older crowd do thier thing and most of us within the younger segment do our thing with the 4 bangers. Theres a number of differences which seperate us. They like rear drive we grow up in an era where few cars are v8 and hardly any are rear drive. We are used to better gas mileage and focus more on suspensions. We are accepting to technology while the old timers swear by thier carbs. v8s dont rule or roam the streets anymore, they havent for years. In 1985 I wouldnt believe that a cavalier could beat a camaro. Now in 2005 the cobalt ss can beat alot of them. The V8 guys are in denial I think and they still think that its inconceivable to get beat by a 4 banger.
I know this alot because of the conversations that I have with my dad. For instance a 1967 Shelby GT 500 runs 14.0 in the 1/4 mile many of us on here have beaten that . He just swears that no 4 cylinder can beat a V8. He thinks its silly for me to mod my car. Fact of the matter is that when I'm done my car will roast anything he ever built. Young guys dont mod V8s cause its not what they grew up with, we cant afford the insurance on a v8 either

Appreciate your input on that Robo. I can hang on for a couple of months more.
If there not making a profit after selling 10 (5,000) then there is something wrong. I know for a fact that they will sell at least 40 in the first 2 months.

I hope someone beats them to the market, buys them, takes their technology and closes them down.
hee hee
Anyway, Shifted and Robo, if you guys need any help, let me know...while I am more of an analog/digital design and hardware design type electrical engineer, I can do software, and embedded systems...
Just in case you need any help.
