Would a 1998 2.4 ECU work in a 1995 2.3 manual car?
i do not believe so....not only would it have to be reprogramed, i don not think the connectors are even the same
no, 1995 is OBD1 & 96+ is OBD2
so DEFINATELY NOT.

If you put a piggyback system on your computer and it is INSTALLED properly, you will not run into limp mode. I know from personal experience because had a bad install on my SAFC-2 (person didn't souder the wires) and the wires came loose on the highway and ran into limp mode and stalling out.
Check out piggy back setups like Megasquirt, Greddy E-manage or Apexi SAFC-2

ohh as well what about the engine codes how will the piggyback system get rid of those?

They won't get rid of codes. Their main purpose is fuel or iginition (or both).
The only way to get rid of codes is through a OBDII Scanner, reseting your computer by disconnecting your battery or actually fixing the problem.
