Well, it was 6550 (stock or so it said in hpt) although i couldn't get the needle past 6500 before it would cut out.
Raised it to 6650 and now, gauranteed not to hit the rev limiter anymore before i shift(I shift right at redline). Although, can chirp into 3rd with 225/16/55 khumo 712s that are hot and the road hot in our 30C weather. Couldn't do that before i raised it today.
Mind you, its a stock valve train, but curious to see how high other 2.4l LD9 owners have raised their rev limiter and not had any problems.

Mine is 7,200, no problems yet. Keep in mind i have a reason to have that high of a rev limit, with stock cams and head a 2.4 makes peak hp around 5500rpm.

7000 on mine , before it was 6600
im guessing that it was raised as part of the reflash
another funny thing is mine 3-4 upshift speed was set at 256mph
7500rpm for now and looking for 8000rpm.
Oups, you said 2.4 not 2.3

So much more power!
97cavie24ls,
mmm.. ur on stock valve train too eh. and u bumped it up to 7000. Even though ur an automatic, do u get it up there in the 6600-7000 lots? No problems?

6600, just so I don't hit the rev limiter when shifting at redline, works like a charm.
15.3 @ 89.97mph, 14's on the way?

umm, same here, my 3-4 upshift is 256, but when driving around it goes into 4th all the time, anyone know why?

7000, I dont trust the motor much beyond that in its current state

Because GM doesn't want the trans to run at full power/high rpm in 4th gear.
Usually this is because of internal oiling deficiencies at such high internal speeds that can cause trans failure (common issue with any OD auto), but I do not know why absolutely for sure.

Todd, do you have any program/setup to modify the W41 ecm that I could use to get a red line of 8000?

so that setting is only in affect when you are pushing the car right? if you floor it then it wont shift into 4th, but if your cruising it will?

I dont trust a stock oil-system 2.4 up tp 6200 let alone 7000...and that isnt even mentioning the valvetrain.

I agree. No reason to rev higher on a stock motor. Mine is stock rev limit here and won't change until the motor gets rebuilt. My peak HP was @ 5200

bah! whats the fun in that! lol. Not doing anything extreme, i know it can't handle that. But something that suites my driving. Def. makes it easier to @!#$ right at the redline (old one) now that i won't bounce off it b/c its raised a little.
