I have a 03 cavy with a 2.2 ECOtec engine and i only have simple mods and wonderd what cam gears could do for me or anything at all
You could make gains with cam gears. Given how low the stock cams peak I would say a few extra degrees of overlap could yield some mild gains up top. The problem is you would need a dyno to see what effect the changes you are making have. It takes about 20-30 minutes to adjust cam timing so it could be a long tuning session. Given the price of the gears and tuning, you'd be better off getting aftermarket cams.
k, im just trying to decide if it is worth it in the power gain end, cause of the price
its really only worth it when you've got aftermarket everything in the head and you need to fine tune the engine to get those few extra ponies, or if you engine is modded out and wont idle/ run properly
many changes in the making
my favorite part about doing bodywork,.......... bondo bugers
ok this one is for the gurus i got a set of this cam gears from eBay and this weekend and putting my engine together with stage 3 com camp and a ported and polish head along with the gm charger
I don't know if i should advance or retar the timing
2.2 eco
QBE had these and saw his biggest gains with stock cam timing, they are basically useless for any of the non race only cams

hey Rodimus can you explain me a little more on how to use them
well basically you can advance or retard the timing on both intake and exhaust, theres adjustment screws and notches
what will work best for you other than stock , well you need at least a full day on the dyno and alot of patience, because theres no preset map for success you literally need to play around with them and keep logging the results to find gains

I didnt have them Matt Kunkle did and after 2 days of dynoing they didnt see much of anything... msot of the time theyd gain hp or lose tq or vice evrsa, the stock timing was the best overall
