Ok I need a PCM for my 2000 z24 2.4 5-spd... or I think I do, I am going to go pick one up and give it a try. First things first,
1) from what I have read I can use any PCM from a 2000-2005 2.4 (ld9) or 2.2 (eco) as long as it uses a 5-spd tranny.
2) after installing the PCM, what exactly do I have to do to get the car running and bring it to the shop.. or should I install the new PCM at the shop. (I do have hpt, but I don't believe we can change serial numbers)
looking to grab a PCM this afternoon, so hopefully some one has done this before, thanks

I plugged in the new PCM last night (from another 2000 2.4 5-spd) and the car would crank but not start. I tried doing the relearn procedure (30min version) but the "telltale" security light didn't go out after 10 minutes. So I waited 12min and went throw it 3 times, but it was a no go. I put my other PCM back in and it worked like a charm.
On a side note about my misfire issue, I checked compression, it is 190 across all 4, and I put new plugs in with a much larger gap, and I have detonation, everywhere now.. is it possible that my plugs are too hot?? i am running r42tls (gm s/c plugs) and they are one step colder.. hmmm

I installed an MSD dis-2, and we thought the issue might be spark blowout, I had the plugs at 26 thou, and we installed an msd, leaving the gap at 26 thou. When I checked compression I thought I would try new plugs and increasing the gap to 32 thou.

I am at the point where I ask...
what would a short block with 2.3 oil pump, eagle rods, wiseco pistons, and balanced be worth?? with 9k miles on it?

^^my first born^^ otherwise ill take it off your hands... my turbo would like it better than the stock block it has
spark blow out is known with WIDER gaps , not narrow gaps
also the PCM has to be flashed , for a 2.4 5spd , then the theft relearn has to be done , did you use the 99-older or the 00-05 programing ? they are different in the way they are done
the auto and 5spd use the same pcm , just the programing is different
I am thinking that I am not getting spark blowout, rather detonation due to increase heat, but we are trying some racing fuel and likely a water/meth kit thursday or friday, I will post the results from that day. If we come up with any thing, then the head will likely come off and do a thicker gasket.
I had bought a 2000 5-spd 2.4 PCM, but it made no difference
