fast wideband question
Monday, January 29, 2007 6:18 PM
Hey, Im looking to get a wideband o2 sensor for my 2200, for when i turbocharge it. I want to get one, but im curious, does it replace the stock sensor? or do i need to install it in another location? thanks for any help!

nope it replaces the old one

Displacement= 2.2L
Valve Train= OHV
Bore & Stroke= 3.50 x 3.46
Compression Ratio= 9 to 1
Net HP @ RPM= 125 @ 5200
Maximum Torque Ft Lbs @ RPM= 135 @ 4000
Fuel System= MFI
Normal Oil Pressure: psi @ 3000 RPM= 56

do they all work with the stock j-body pcm, or should i get a specific one?

yes the pcm will relize its there and wont throw a code but you need to find out if its a heated o2 sensor or not before you buy one

Displacement= 2.2L
Valve Train= OHV
Bore & Stroke= 3.50 x 3.46
Compression Ratio= 9 to 1
Net HP @ RPM= 125 @ 5200
Maximum Torque Ft Lbs @ RPM= 135 @ 4000
Fuel System= MFI
Normal Oil Pressure: psi @ 3000 RPM= 56

You really need to think things through a little more...

Most widebands will not replace the stock sensor. They cannot emulate a Nernst cell narrowband sensor and switch fast enough. If you want it to replace the stock sensor, you need to find a wideband that can emulate a 0-1.250v Nernst cell fast switching output. Otherwise your ECU will throw a slow response code and an O2 sensor low voltage code. Most widebands can't do this, as they've been set up to emulate wider import style O2 sensors.

^^ is there one like this that works for a j-body?

The Zietronix MIGHT, but I personally haven't found one that does yet. They are all 0-1v, not the needed 0-1.250v

0- 950 milivolts is the correct term 450 mv is stoichiometric 14.7:1 thats the right voltage you should get in closed loop

Displacement= 2.2L
Valve Train= OHV
Bore & Stroke= 3.50 x 3.46
Compression Ratio= 9 to 1
Net HP @ RPM= 125 @ 5200
Maximum Torque Ft Lbs @ RPM= 135 @ 4000
Fuel System= MFI
Normal Oil Pressure: psi @ 3000 RPM= 56

0-950mv is 0-.950v, volts and millivolts are the same damn thing, just different scales. And trust me, its 0-1.250v, not to .950v.

.450 is the middle of the scale, but the car does not run in stoich, it bounces back and forth between lean and rich in closed loop. In open loop it ignores the readings from the O2 sensor. The switching from lean to rich is measured and if it takes too long your ecu throws a slow response code. If it doesn't hit lean or rich, you will get either a high voltage or low voltage code.
