Case in point, I just got some .430 lift 232 dur. cams, there big, does any one know how to tune for this with HPT, or even with OBD-1 E-proms, I thinking the GTZ would like the cams, but maybe the Z24 would like them more.
Thanks

so youre the one that got them on ebay!!!!
i thought about getting them but didn't really know if they would work well with my ecu, plus i'm broke lol
Well its def an airflow changing mod, so no doubt your VE tables will need retuned, and along with that some spark adjustment
Sometimes the stock pcm dont like cams and will throw misfire codes , low vacum codes, or too rich or too lean, im pretty sure with HP tuners you can make it work
on OBD1 im totally clueless what to do there no experience with that

on OBD1, you can use tunercat or tunerpro to tune...
You need AT LEAST the W41 programming and go from there. I tought about those cams but I have a set of new .430 224° right now so it would have been wasted money.
I may have something for you that will make them run in the Gtz and has no rev limiter

With 97- up being TPS based, its not any different than normal.
Using 95 - down can be hard because MAP changes quickly with overlap and the overall amount of vacuum drops so that the range of cells used is limited.

my 2002 cavi is supercharged... so thats map based...... i guess its trial by error, but i would love to put them in the GTZ.........Gilles?

I have a Rocket part Ecm you could use. It does idle with W41 cams HG2 (my .430 224°) with 12:1 compression. Too much timming for the compression I have. No rev limiter that I know off. Been to 8k and it wasn't stopping. I still can't believe how the W41 scream that high.
It's trial and error for sure. Cam gear would be a big plus if you don't have them already. I would go with stiffer springs if you don't already have some. I'm running my HG 2 with the stock Ho springs but I have a set of springs from a 350 that are going on the W41.

i have the rocked parts book, NO dealler still has the cam gears,or the LSD...(sad) i was thinking the +4 -4 gears with thies cams, and using a w41 intake cam and a comp cam (.410\226) exhaust cam with the +2-2 cam gears for the Z24.......
ill email you

definitely vacuum/map will be something to look at, i know on my ecotec stage 2 cams my idle vacuum is like 10 in/hg and stock is like 17. and the map readings are way off to i think instead of 0-1 volt stock at idle mines at 2-2.5 volts at idle. specs on these cams are Duration @ .050*, Valve Lift
INTAKE 228*, 446
EXHAUST 232*, 448
so should be a close idea what you might see also
