Do you need an fmu with hpt? the reason im asking is because i heard that you could use hpt by itself for a turbo application.
Thanks,
IG
how about fo rthe ecotec with a hahn stage 2? someone told me i could just remove my FMU which came with the kit and just tune it with HPT, is this correct?
What about a 99 2.2? Can't you just mess with the injector constant?

Grr...nevermind
Let me see if I have this right....
I don't know what lb/hr stock is on a 99 2.2...17 maybe?
Say I'm using 36lb/hr inj
To get a new inj constant so the car will idle right.....
Inj Const = # x (17 / 36) = *
# is where the stock inj constant is....
* is what the new inj constant would be....
Now how would I go about tuning it without a WB02 sensor?

Import Killer-
You could tune it, yes, but I wouldn't just remove the FMU and go out and tune at 15psi, it would take some time and some tuning skills.
WhininZ-
Stock 2.2 is 19lb/hr. Tuning without a wideband is like stabbing in the dark, I highly recommend getting one, its like tuning blind. The narrowband sensor isn't accurate enough to be used as a tuning reference, all you'll be able to do is see if its rich or lean. The ONLY way I'd tune VE without a wideband is on a dyno where they can hook a wideband up and print you off the readings after a run, then you adjust the VE table, and repeat until you get it.

Ok cool....another question
First off, I went ahead and bought an Innovate Wideband Kit, minus the gauge. So I got the sensor, cable, bung, software and all that stuff......
I can transfer the wideband over to a diff car to tune it right? It won't mess up anything?? I just wanna make sure....
And VE....
-Turn off closed loop operation
-Log Data
-Load histogram
-Open all data
-VCM Scanner, copy all the cells
-VCM suite, paste all the cells
And I should be good.....should I go out and do a couple more pulls and re-do this a couple times??

Yes to both your questions, you'll have to repeat the VE tune probably 5 times to get it right, depending on how good you are with it. The last couple tunes you may want to tweak the cells by hand, since using the AF error % may overshoot your goal.

im not tuning for 15 psi, im stayin the in 8-10psi range, anything u guys recommend?
I would recommend doing the math to precaluclate close numbers first based on the mathmatics of engine mechanics.
Then when you do your first couple of runs, try not to go into boost too much until you know your knock is down, the thing i see a lot is someone starts off with a base tune, but just punches it, and ends up breaking something.
And actually for advice, i would talk to shifted or some of the other tuning guru's here, i've only got 2 or so years experience, and then only tuning on odb1 for chevy. 5 years with dsm, but still dsm is a whole other ballgame.
thanks for the advice, i have someone locally that is going to tune it fo rme once i hook up my wideband kit. and kind of base numbers you guys are tunging with the ecotec to get me started?
