GM Charged 2.4L and HPT
Thursday, March 15, 2007 10:30 PM
So, I should be getting HPT by the 28th or so....already ordered it. Wideband got here today so...

Besides using the VE FAQ above, what other things could I do to make my car get some more power? I wanna upgrade to green tops, but I am unsure as to what the clips are?? I heard the re-flash pulls alot of timing, can I adjust that? And by how much?
As soon as I get it, I wanna up the idle to 1100, fan on at 215, raise rev limiter to 6800, and remove the speed limiter. Anything else you recommend to mess around with?

Another question
Will my wbo2 sensor get messed up from shooting fire out of the exhaust? I have a cut-out right before the cat, and the o2 sensor is prolly going to go right after the stock primary.

Thanks

If it was my car I would for sure what to add timing back. Gm does pull a lot of tiing in that program, but the only real way to tune for etiming (I'm sure others will say different) is to be on a dyno. Just because you do not see knock does not mean you are not killing power.

if you need clips for the injectors you can contact karo and use the rc injector clips they are the same as ford, which hpt did you get? if you got the pro you could do some street tuning, dyno is the best cause you have control of everything(dont have to watch the road). but i just did some driving rec. in my scanner and would adjust from there

Ok so what kpa should I be reading at 6psi on a 2-bar map sensor???

And I'm reading like 6 deg of knock....

And my inj constant is like .323205 or something.....

wtf? I thought it was going to be lower than that.....what is the stock inj constant on a 2.4L?? I thought the lower it is the bigger injectors you have....grrrr this is confusing....

But I did raise the idle, fan on/off temp, and the limiter. Along with setting the target afr in PE. And setting the PE delay to 2200....

How do you raise the rev limiter??? I've tried all I can think of and it still shuts off at 6550

i still am trying to figure out why your 1/4 mile and dyno times aren't too good, im guessing its your 2.5" exhaust somehow because your running stock CR and head as far as i know and im running lowered CR and ported head and fast 1/4 times. I say get it tuned with advancing some timing, fooling with the rev limiter and if your not pulling low 14's at LEAST then something is deffinatly not right or you gotta lemon i'd say.

Ok. So my injector constant is .32359. I re-figured it out for the green tops, and it came out to .22797. From 310cc to 440cc. Correct??

Also, I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong to raise the rpm limits.
I have to change the specs for the red buttons, correct? That might be what I'm doing wrong....

And after messing around with the VCM scanner, I realized you can change everything. So I messed around with it, and got the kPa to read up to 210 instead of 105.

That injector constant still sounds high.

Off the top of my head, my 36lb injectors are around 15. 440cc injectors should be around 11

Ok well I went and got a STOCK 2.4 file and the inj constant was like .202 something. The re-flash consant is .32359 so WTF?
If my math is correct,

.20250 * (252/310) = .16461

I think stock inj are 252cc.....I'm not too sure

But taking that info

.16461 * (310/440) = .11596

So again, WTF?

Am I missing something here? Or what?

Also, on another note....

For VE Tuning, it says to log Manifold Vacuum. Shouldn't it be Manifold Absolute Pressure instead?

Also, how do you get the VCM Scanner to log the PID's that are not red? Because I've noticed that it only reads the PID's that are red, or maybe I set something up wrong?? Because the AFR error % and AFR Command Lo Res are NOT red.....

Also, on the ECT vs. Start-up ECT table, there is no AFR adjustment. Do I just skip this? And set the AFR in PE?
--------------
d) Open the Mult vs RPM and set the multiplier for each RPM to hit the target AFR in that RPM cell

How do I do that??? I have it set for 11:1 for everything above 90 ECT, and the mult vs. rpm is all 1.0

Ok, I think that's all for now. Thanks for any help!!!!

Ok, so another question lol....

I finally got my wideband hooked up, did the free-air calibration and everything.....but when I load up logworks and connect to the wideband, it goes from 7.4 to 20.9 then back to 7.4 then back to 20.9......I have the blue ground wire separated from the white and green wires, both on the obd2 terminal. blue on the left side, and white and green on the right. Should I ground them somewhere else? Or am I good with those.....

Also, to use the MPVI on HPT, I have to connect the brown analog2 wire to any one of the first 4 connections on HPT, and ground the 5 and 6 connections? Or something.....

Thanks again.

Ok.

So let me reveiw here, cause I figured some things out, but some others are left in the dark.

I'm still confused on the injector constant.
The GM s/c re-flash is .32359
Stock on a 2.4L is .20250
Why did the reflash injector constant go up? If I'm thinking correctly, technically that would mean they are SMALLER injectors, right? The 310cc should be around .16 something. And the 440cc should be around .11 something.

I have the PE AFR set at 11.9:1 in everything above 133 ECT. But the commanded AFR lo res in PE says 11.50, and at cruising/idle it's 14.60. Is there something else that I need to adjust so it hits the target 11.9 AFR?

Also, my wideband is still acting up. I have the blue heater ground grounded to the left bolt on the obd2 diag port. I have the green analog ground and the white system ground hooked into EIO5, and the brown analog hooked into EIO1. I have it set up to read in VCM Scanner, but it's EXTREMELY erratic. It will go from 7.4 up to 20.9 then back down to 7.4, even at WOT and idle. I don't know if I have something hooked up wrong or what....
