drift body kit
Sunday, February 27, 2005 8:53 PM
hey, i want one of these things, and people on here told me not to get one off of ebay due to fitment problems(you get what u pay for), so i was wondering where i can find a reputal dealer of drift body kits, that wont send me @!#$ to put on my car, and also, i was wondering how hard it is to install a body kit for me, my dads friend owns a body shop, so he will paint the pieces for cheap, but i doubt he will want to mess around with putting on a body kit for me, he has better things to do, so.....how hard is this?

http://www.aplusperformance.com or http://www.tabascoracing.com they can get it for you for a good price and i know it will be high quality.

as far as fitment, you shouldn't have too hard of a time to get it on.

If it's fiberglass, then it's going to be a learning process for you. I learned the same
way when I did mine. It does however take time, patience & persistence.

if your car is going to be a daily driver, prepare to screw your kit up...that's just the way it goes...i'd done it plenty of times.

urethane is the way to go.

I always hear that.

"You're going to screw it up! Don't be stupid! It'll break! Get a life! Spend more money! Do it right the first time!"

I have a fiberglass kit and have no problems with it. It scrapes every now and then, but I have yet to crack it. I think fiberglass kits are nice to start out with...I'm not sure what the hype is about "GET A URETHANE KIT YOU STUPID!" I get tired of hearing that.

Note: If you crack a fiberglass kit, you can always fix it. If your urethane kit ends up cracking somehow, you're f*****

lol...let's see how your kit looks after a year...

i'm gentle and careful as hell with mine, but it still ends up getting fkd up....

anything able to crack urethane will certainly OBLITERATE fiberglass...

urethane is repairable. the good thing about it is, it's much more difficult to crack or damage a urethane kit.

however, urethane drift front bumpers are hard to come by since they aren't made anymore.

True that! There is absolutely nothing wrong with fiberglass. I would actually reconmend it because you can customize the look of it if you want to. You can also fix it if it cracks (and its extremely easy), or if it doesnt fit you can customize it.

If you dont drive stupid, and lower your car an unreasonable amount, you will have no problems.

Amen.

Do what you want, spend what you want, break what you want, and most of all - get what you want.

There is absolutely positively nothing wrong with putting a fiberglass kit on a daily driver. I've had mine for about a year now and I have never destroyed it (I probably just jinxed myself). I cracked it ONCE because I hit a dead dog at night (sucky headlights), but it hit hard and I am so suprised it did not do more to it. It actually didn't even crack it-- it just chipped it a little.

Trust me- If I can keep a fiberglass kit where I live, anyone can-- eastern ky: mountains, pot holes, curvy, bad roads. Fiberglass is stronger than most ppl think. As long as you slow down and don't make your car too low and watch for things, you should be fine. I prefer a fiberglass kit because it can be customized easier-- I am currently filling in the gap between the front bumper and hood.

My kit was a ebay kit. The fitment sucked, but then again it was made for a 95-99. lol.. The back bumper and side skirts have been a huge issue too though. It seems to be pretty sturdy though, but I would not recommend it. Luckily we can work with fiberglass, so I'm not complaining.

If u think u would be better off w/ urethane, www.gravanatuning.com has a urethane drift front, but it's on back order.
http://www.grounddynamics.com/ has the drift kit, but it's called the striker kit. I've heard good things about them from a few sources, but I would get a second opinion before deciding anything with them- my sources may not be the best in the world. =)

Yeah. Im still looking for a new urethane front for a 03+. I loved it when I had it for about a month. Then someone left me a cracked and shattered urethane surprise when I woke up in the morning.

Still though, the urethane was nice and held up to my amateur body work without any problems
