Gas Cap in Trunk or Round Aircraft Style?
Wednesday, March 02, 2005 7:53 PM
I am getting my P/S quarter panel repainted this summer and figured I'd go ahead and redo the gas door.

Which is better - shaving the fuel door and putting the cap under my trunk lid, or adding the round, silver door?

The car is Arrival Blue.

I assume that it will be cheaper to go with the round door, but not by a lot.

I am leaning toward this option, but the pics I have seen with the totally shaved panel are sweet. Maybe a pain in the ass to pop the trunk to refuel...

Ever considered the "Behind the Tail light" option? I honestly think that's Sweet.

What is this "operation" costing you guys on average?

Is it dangerous? I assume that they will have to drain the tank before doing any welding...

Mine is getting a FULL paint job. Hence why i,m shaving and molding my entire cavalier. So its costing me an extra $100 to shave the gas lid and the labor of re-locating the gas cap.

To do that mod all by itself. Wow i can imagine it being pretty expensive. I mean its quite a bit of work. Espically when u weld our cavalier panels. There usually is some warping of the metal. Which needs to be taken care of. Then all the relocating process. I would say probably in the range of $850-1000. Thats repainting the quater panels also.
