I am going to be shaving all of the locks on my car this summer and I have a question! If I happen to leave my keys in my car and happen to not have a spaire key! IS there a kit that will open the door from like a button? hidden someplace on the car?
Or keep a couple of spares (in wallet, with family, that sort of thing)? Just don't give your significant other a key

Its not going to matter if you have a spare key your locks would be shaved anyway. That means no keys. Only key used would be to start car, not unlock, it you have no key holes.
im guessing remote power locks... ?
Why not just go with an Autoloc shaved door handle kit......I,m using a Remote poper 50lb Autoloc kit......Got it for $150 directly from them. and doesn't use nearly as much power as the SPAL.

I've been shaven for over 2 years and well I don't have a button. I think that is just askin' to get broken into. I say order extra remotes instead. If you ever lose power, pop the hood add jumper cables then pop! hehe...
I want a hidden button so if I lose my power lock remote and so that I dont have to rely on someone else to help me out, a hidden button on a car would be smart if you put it in a smart place. I am lamboing my doors so I dont want to shave the handels but I am going to be doing handel conversions from a neon

The best solution for you would be to get a "Window-Roll Down" module installed with either your existing alarm or as a stand alone unit. In case of your keys getting locked in. Just grab the spare remote and roll down the windows, then you can manually unlock the doors and open them.
They also sell a "Taplock Keyless Entry System". You program a secret code. Then anytime you need to get into your car. Just tap the code on your front windsheild to unlock the doors. See

Things to keep in mind:
In the event of your battery being depleted, you would still need to find a way to get under the hood or pay a locksmith to open the lock manually for you.

if you did that you have to carry 2 remotes with you. one to unlock your doors and a back up one to roll down the windows if you left your keys in the car. but then your also spending more money on the motor/ brain to roll your windows down. If you wanted to carry 2 remotes might as well get a spare remote for your electric locks anyway.
or if you can remember, just never lock your doors manually when you get out. the only way you lock your doors is with your remote. that way you know you always have your remote
make sure you hide the button really really well if your going to do that
the BEST solution to this would be to get a membership with AMA or any other roadside assistance company.
now im not familliar with what happens to the interior lock mechanism when you shave the locks. but if nothing different happens to the lock, then the car is still easily able to get into.
when the towtruck drivers need to get into a car like a 3rd gen cavalier, they have tools that will go underneath the window of the door, and pop up inside the cabin of the car. then the operator just needs to manuver this tool to manualy flick the interior lock, or if you have power locks the operator just needs to push the botton with this tool.
I've had AMA get into my car like this at least twice.
its the cheapest and best way to do this. I would not recommend putting a button anywhere on the car. remember this is a "what if" situation
*but having shaved handles as well as locks may be a different situation

Shaved door handles are a pain though... I've had mine for less than a week and get irritated with having to take my keys everywhere I go. I used to leave them in the car and get out at my friend's houses and so forth. =( Can't do that anymore.

i can still hold onto the side of the door and lift it up. You don't need door handles in order to lift the door up.
lol, well I'm not trying to be cute or nuttin but do the lambo doors have a counter weight, to compensate for the weight of the door.

i thought i saw something efore where a guy had shaved locks and handles and he installed a wire somewhere under the car for backup. it looks just like a normal wire that when pplied 12v of power, the locks open. he ran it next to smeother wires under there or something so you'd really have to know what it was for to break into the car. in the event he got lcked out ofthe car, all he's have to do is ask someone for a jump, and connect the POS to the wire. viola. and just cause he got the door open doesnt mean the alarm wouldnt go off. he'd get in his car, get the keys he locked in, and then disable the alarm. a thief wouldnt find the keys in the car so th alarm would keep going off. anways, try something like that maybe?
There is no need to worry about someone finding the 12v backup wire and getting in your car. There is a far easier way to get into your car if someone wanted to badly enough... (Brink wrapped in cloth = Byebye window)
I used a choke cable from napa, like from older vehicles with manual chokes. Mounted the pull knob where I wanted it, hidden of course. Ran it to the interior handle and now when i loose my remote or battery goes dead, just pull on the knob and the door opens.

An outside switch isn't really gonna do you any good if your battery goes dead, just because its on the outside of the car doesnt mean it doesnt need power to run it. Your best bet in my opinion is to put a cable behind your bumper or somewhere and run it to your hood latch. Then mount your switch inside your engine bay somewhere. That way if your battery goes dead, you just pull the cable, open the hood, and have someone jump you, or if you lock your keys in your car, you just pop your hood and push the button. Nobody will think to look for a cable behind your bumper. Most thiefs arent that smart.
the cable i was referring to is a cable that opens the door when supplied 12v. same way the door popper works, only you have to supply the 12v from another car sice you cant get in your car. if your battery goes dead, and someones gonna give you a jump, you tap the wire, door opens, then pop the hood and jump the car.
I understood what you were talking about, but adding a cable straight to the hood, eliminates that step, plus you wont get the weird look when you ask for a jump and stick the cable underneath your car
. either way would work, but it seems more convenient to have them both under the hood with a cable on it and then put the switch somewhere where no one but you knows about it, that way if you need a jump its right there or if you just locked your keys in your car, it is still just right there. Also, if your not worried about your battery going dead and just locking the remote in the car or losing it, you can get one of the magnetic things and put it in there and then hide that under the car somewhere.
I just shaved my doors today and will be adding the emergency switch tommorrow, i am going to have it in my engine bay, because im going to have hood pins holding the hood down since it will be a flip forward hood. So i just hope i don't lock my keys in my car within the next week.
how would you tap the switch if its under the hood? if the keys are locked in the car, you cant pop the hood...
