CONVETIBLE TOP INSTALL? HELP PLEASE
Friday, March 11, 2005 9:49 PM
Has anyone installed a convertible top on a cavalier, I bough a new top with a rear plastic window, and the cheapest quote that I got for installation is 400$. I know it is a pain in the A$$ but It seems very expensive for an install.
Is it really hard to install, and would look bad, even if I took my time.
If you have any instructions on how to install it, PLEASE LET ME KNOW
thanks

i have done it on an older gen. 93 cavi, go to your local dealership they can actually print up the directions from the books that they have, basically it took me two weeks working on the car in teh garage. you are going to need different adhesive and to replace all teh cables, the one main adhesive you need is green comes in a red metal tube and sometimes refered to as gorilla snot, works wonders. be patient with this though and make sure you seal everything staple the ne top about every half in the bottoms across the very front edge and across teh back brace just above the rear windo. use two people to pull the roof tight as youu are stapling and start in the center of the back window and work outwards. it is a pretty simple process it is just time consuming. good luck and if you have questions email me.
