I've been doing a lot of research/contemplating lately and I think I'm going to go with the
VIS Carbon Fiber Invader hood for my Sunfire, like the one below:

Are these hoods good quality from what you guys have seen? I've heard good things, but I'd really like some feedback on fitment, quality, customer service, etc. Thanks in advance, everyone!!!
VIS has been great fitting on kits & hoods in the past, and I'm sure these Sunfire hoods are the same... If you don't order directly with them, let me know and I'll get you a good deal.

Got it about a year ago... Fits great right out of the box. Of course I couldn't leave it alone and fiberglassed in eyelids and painted some.

well I'm very picky with my car, I'd say fitment and quality is nothing to brag about. Compared to other campanies I've seen the weave is awsome, but its not perfect, couple very small areas where the weave is quite right, just a little off, there are a few very small random air bubles on the hood, like maybe 2-3 over the entire thing, very small though, like pinhead small. the hood is vust a slight bit narrower then stock, there so the gaps between hood and fender are bigger then stock but not to big, I had to take my intake off and use the stock air box off the TB cause the invader vent hit the intake, I removed the hood latch and filled out the holes a bit to get to the hood to close flush with the fenders ect.. Overall impression, its very nice but its not perfect, I heard nothing but good things about VIS so I was expecting perfect but like I said i'm very picky with my car. The quality is higher then others I have seen and the finish is strong, I've had mine on through a chicago winter (lots of ice and snow and salt ect...) and it looks like it did new. I woudl sugest to keep it waxed though, you will get a little bit of water buildup (and ice in the winter) in the corners of the slope down to the vent, keep that area or it will kinda stain, I had to spend while buffing the corners out on mine.
Overall its worth it but don't expect perfect
someone once told me you cant use regular wax on the carbon fiber hoods? That you have to get it professionally done somewhere.... any info on this>?
Mothers canuba cleaner wax and Mothers Carnuba wax. I have used both, I also used the Mothers california gold scratch remover (a @!#$in cat was standing on my hood and left a couple very very fine scratches on it) none of it has had a negative affect...
this is after a a summer and winter in chicago and a fresh coat of mothers wax.... (taken a week ago)
by the way that is actually the reflection of clouds on the hood, finsih is still like a mirror.
also I thought I shoudl add this quick, in general your not surpossed to wax on CF, VIS has like a clear coat on top of everythign so it IS safe to use wax on it, sorry that justcame to mind
I think it will look great bro
.
You guys have definitely made up my mind...between this post and what my buddy has seen on the Tiburon forums, there's barely a bad thing to be said about VIS products. Not to mention the hood looks gorgeous on ALL your cars...I'M SOLD!!! Calling in the order later this week

I've seen 2 VIS CF hoods and they were both flawless.
ive seen several and some had flaws
but compaired to the 2 rk hoods ive had , they are FLAWLESS and worth 10 times what i paid for the rk
Mine had a few flaws when i got it, like darkstars said the fitment isnt perfect i lined mine up the best i could. Also like darkstars said i use wax on mine everytime i wax my car and mine also stay on though the pa winters. Heres the best pic i have of it, its been on my car for 14 months and been though 2 winters. Over all im satisfied with the quality, eventually when it looks bad ill just have it painted to match my car.
where did u guys get your VIS C/F Invader Hood from? Also, where is a good place to order hood pins? Thanks!
I bought mine off a company that was going out of buisness and had an e-bay store
and hood pins are gay
^^ indeed.
I noticed a very slight mess up in the clear coat. Was hard to see if you weren't combing it down for errors. And I also had to slot the hood latch so the hood could sit farther down on one side. Overall, It is a great quality hood. Oem look underside and the stock latch mounting point is sturdy.
^^Home made sig^^ ghetto, I know.

How heavy are the hoods. I just ordered one. I dont want the hood to pop open while im driving. How many of you with CF hoods have hood pins
the hood isn't exactly light but its lighter then stock, I just use the hood latch and no problems without the pins, the only thing is the edges on the hood will catch the wind and move aorund a bit at higway speeds

Lol...sorry for ripping your pics, man! You must've been pretty surprised when you opened up this post, though!
I've given the
hood pin matter some thought, and I think I'm gonna install a set of black ones. I'd rather not take the chance of having the latch lose hold and kissing the hood at 70 mph. But I guess time will tell...I definitely like the look of no pins much better.
