quality carbonfiber MUST READ!
Thursday, March 17, 2005 5:17 PM
ok guys and gals i have recently installed the carbon by design turbo sport hood and i dont really think anyone truely understands the quality that carbon by design puts into thier product. The hood is the most amazing aftermarket piece i have ever layed my eyes on. This being said, i would like to see if there would be any interest in having carbon by design produce a carbon fiber trunk lid. I know that not everyone is interested in having a trunk made of carbon fiber, but let me just draw you a mental picture. Carbon by designs hood has a full one piece underside unlike VIS which upon opening reveals a nasty mess of cut out fiber glass. Secondly the carbon fiber used by carbon by design is an aero-space material that can be found on many aircraft. Other companys use a less expensive, lesser quaility carbon fiber which would never last as long and i can gaurentee the UV gelcoat is not as abundant. Basicly i was informed by someone at carbon by design that a mold for a trunk lid would cost them around 4,000 dollars. There has to be a decsent amount of feedback in order for them to produce this product. Please respond to this post and also if interested email carbon by design. I personaly would realy like to have a trunk of the same quality as my hood. Thank you for taking the time to read this long @$$ post and i look foward to everyones feedback.

Id be interested to get a fully shaved trunk or at least a shaved lock trunk. Already have a VIS one, real nice quality but if this one when shown to me is of better quality then im down for buying another one. I could sell the VIS in 2 seconds to at least 3 kids in my area.

the email for CBD is contact@carbonbydesign.com so email em and lets get a trunk made! i just talked to jim at gravanatuning.com and i want everyone to do a google search on the government and carbonfiber apparently the us government is gonna be limmiting the use of cf because the want all production to be devoted to millitary use which means every carbon piece that u have is gonna double in value! but this also means buying new cf products will become more expensive so lets hurry up and get this trunk made while we can afford it! also we dont need to worrie about what style we want because they can make all three : stock, shaved keyhole and fullyshaved with the same mold they just use filler pieces in the light holes annd keyholes so there shouldnt be anything holding us back now except price but trust me whatever the price will be in the longrun it will be worth every penny of it email carbon by design NOW!!!

Thats not true. Military grade Carbon Fiber doesn't even look like carbon fiber that is on cars and bikes. It's not the same. The stuff we use on B-1s here at Dyess looks dark grey.

Here's your Google Search.
Google Search

Don't worry people. Carbon FIber isn't going to shoot up in price. At least not due to the military.

dude that is the biggest run-on sentence I ever read!

The only punctuation was in A.15's name!

Just bustin' yer chops - please take no offense, Geoffrey

hahahaha

Seriously, I'm sure that there's plenty of CF for everyone. You did have me worried for a sec!
