Killer, did you have problems with the latch? I know someone who has the hood lined up the way it should, but the secondary catch wont engage...

I had problems with the whole thing because I went from a 03 to a 00-02 front so It was off because of the headlights then the hinges then the latch. Finally it worked!!!!

Well the car we are talking about didn't do any changes... What did you do to make it finally work?

We shimmed the hinges to make the drives side hinge go back a little further.

I just got the same hood, and my only question is closing. I haven't really fooled around with it yet, but it sits a little high from the bumper and the headlights. I don't have the latch on it because I've been doing some other work on the car and didn't want the hood latching, but do the bumps need to be lowered to get the hood to close right? Other than this, the hood lined right up first try. I was impressed with that.
Anyone else who has put this hood on have anything they ran into, and how you took care of it?

I think we are going to try again today...

It didnt really seem like the hood was too far forward or backward, it just wouldn't drop into the secondary latch... I think we'll try to remove the bump stops to see if that fixes it.... Wish us luck!

Any luck? I was just out f-ing around with mine, and I lowered the bump stops all the way, but I'm having the same problem with the secondary latch. When I push down, it's not contacting the bumps, but it is definitely binding somewhere in the middle. It almost seems like it needs a spacer between the hinge and the hood itself on the drivers side to get it to angle down properly.

guys just wondering, does the hood have the proper cutout under the part on the hood that latches to the latch?? i know my predator hood i had to cut the hole myself...

That sounds exactly like our situation. I thought we might make another try at it, but he was busy... I think we were going to try today... I dunno... If you say it isnt even hitting the bump stops, I'm not sure there is anything we can do short of going to hood pins...

You shouldn't need pins try and shim the hinges back. I know John and CBD wouldn't send out a hood that needed that much modification and pins are gonna screw up the look of that hood.

You did loosen the actual latch and move it up didn't you?

If you did, can you make the adjustment holes any bigger on it? I'm talking about the part that the cable runs into. The actual latch mechanism.

The problem that I'm having is that the hood itself does not want to close that far. It's got nothing to do with the latch. I had the top part of the latch off the hood entirely, and it will not close all the way. I have yet to find what it is binding on.
I'm going to go f*$% with it some more tonight and see how I make out.

Cavfire has been refering to my hood and we are still having issues.

I have removed my intake, strut bar, grounding kit, lowered the bump stops all the way, rasied the latch, lowered the catch and yet still nothing it gets caught up I have no idea whats doing it. I even removed all of the rubber pieces on the fenders thinking it would cause it to hang up but nothing. you'd think after building 2 cars I'd be able to put a hood on but I guess not lol.

And the "hole" thing isn't causing it? The hole under the bracket that bolts to your hood is bigger than the latch mechanism so that the mechanism goes into the hole when the hood is shut, right?

If that's not it, I can't think of anything else without looking at it. Sorry I couldn't be any help.

On mine, it's got nothing to do with the front of the hood at all. When I push down on the front, you can see that the hood is bending somewhere in the middle. Strangely, it almost appears to be at the strut towers, but it doesn't make any sense when I look under it that it's hitting there. I might have to get some clay and start placing it around under the hood to see where it's compressing.

That's an excellent idea^^^^^^^^

Mine is bending in the middle as well and unless its the actual strut towers then I dont know what else it could be.

I have been working with gravana and carbon by design and they have been great through all of this and want to know the outcome of what we do.

try taking some modeling clay...maybe like a buck at a hobby store. and lat it in places you think its hitting. if it smooshes then its a problem. easy solution to find your binding spot. i did this on a friends hood a while back...cheep ebay hood. and we made it fit perfect this way because we found exactly where it was hitting and adjusted accordingly.

peace
