extreme dimensions body kit help!!!!!!!!!!
Saturday, April 02, 2005 10:41 AM
i tried installing my body kit today. i have a urethene bomex style front bumper, drifter sides and a drifter rear for my 98 cavalier. fitment sux!!! i need to have the sides extended about 2 inches and the front end doesnt really match up right. has anyone else had fitment probs like this. if its too bad should i take it to get pro installed? they are still going to have to modify the kit. any ideas how much its going to cost to install. i don't know anyone that has installed a kit let alone had to modify one to fit. PLZ HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. btw the kit is extreme dimensions blue class kit will that make a diff?

if the parts are urethane, i would call them up and send them back, if only the front bumper is urethane then the sides and rear can be fixed and their quality from my experience is shoddy at best. The front try using a heat gun to move the urethane around, and see if you can finesse it into place. let me know if the sides and rear are urethane or not, and i will give you better instructions on how to get it to fit.

the sides and rear are fiberglass. as for extreme dimensions i had not heard anything bad about them. but then again i have never really looked for upset people. my local body shop quoted me 400 to install the whole kit, they are also the most recommended place in town to have kits installed. do you think it is worth it or should i start pitching a fit to extreme dimensions?

Id say just pay the 400 and get it installed, thats a good price to get a bodykit installed. On my truck I bought the ED Drift Front/Rear, which were both fiberglass, and i know even though its not urethane like you got, I took it to the bodyshop to get it installed ( front installed, rear molded ) and he said it was the best fitting bodykit he has ever seen. This may be a rare case or a common case with ED, but i have heard good things about them, and with my own experience i would do buisness with them again.

Maybe it was just me that has had all bad experiences with extreme dimensions, but anyway. I would see what they can do about the urethane bumper, because they are supposed to be perfect, thats why they spent the money to make it urethane. As for the sides i think i would lengthen them myself and the rear the biggest problem you will probably have is getting the wave out of it. for the sides to lengthen them, i would pick the flattest spot on the side, like near the front of the skirt and cut it in half and then bolt the 2 pieces where they should be on the car, and then there is a couple of ways to go from there, you can make a couple braces to hold the skirt while you glass it off the car, or you can put a backing on it, like mesh or something and glass it right on the car, its really personal preference. 400 doesnt sound like too bad of an estimate to lengthen the sides and install the front and rear, but fiberglass is forgiving so if you feel comfortable go for it yourself
