a buddy of mine is working on his truck and wanted to make something to go around his intake, to collect more air He has a steel hood with a fiberglass mustang gt vent and under the hood its a v-6 with a top mount intake. my question is 1.can you fiberglass to the steel
2. if you can what kind of problems will you run into with the fiberglass being under the hood? will it get too hot and melt or what?
3. if you can do all of this what materials are best for this?

i have very little knowledge of this stuff for I am learning myself and i wanted to help him out thank you in advance

he would be better off making the vent out of metal and welding it on. with something like the hood, where it gets slammed shut so often, the fiberglass will probably seperate from the metal eventually.

if you bond it right you shouldnt have a problem. it shouldnt melt either. ive had a fiberglass hood for over a year before i sold it and i never had any problems under the hood

i have a fiberglassed hood too and mine its fine its the part about having a steel hood with metal on it also the induction will be alot closer to the engine that mine ever was

fiberglass will burn at over 180degrees f
but it will bond to steel as long as there is no paint
