I have z3 fenders, and an import fighter urethane front bumper..... its painted orange with clear coat in mint condition............. But my car isnt that colour, I wanted to prime the bumper black do I have to sand down the bumper first? or can I paint ontop of it now? I know nothingabout paint, so someone please help
also its just for driving around temporarily, so I dont have purple with orange lol
All you have to do is scuff down the clear... you don't have to take it down to the plastic. And just like Shifted said... spray paint is the devil!
uh oh, i used spray cans, But its only temp..... its gonna be resanded it turned out really good!!.........
The reason I say not to use spray can paint is this:
Spray can paint tends to gum up really bad. (also doesn't work well with actual auto paint... even the actual auto paint in the cans is bad)
We had a newer Chevy S10 Extreme come into the shop once.. some dude tried fixing his dent himself. Did NOT pull the dent out... just started laying on the bondo (the bondo was about 5" thick)... and used the "color matching" spray paint to spray his truck where he dented it. For one, the metallics were much closer to the surface than they were on the rest of the truck. And I went through 5... count 'em FIVE GRINDER DISKS until I got through the paint itself because the paint gummed them up so bad! GRINDER DISKS!!!
