I have been debating whether I should take off my side-moldings. Sometimes I think it is yuck, then I like them, then I'll get scared if i dont like them, but then again i could always put them back on somehow, if I can't OH WELL right. Hehe. But I want to know how many people think I should really take them off? Cuz i mean, I don't want it to look just like a BIG plain door. But then again I want to keep my car sleek-looking. I have mixed opinions about this. Can you tell me why i should, or why I shouldn't? I wonder what it would look with them off. Im having a friend who does body work help me. Lemme know
BTW, sorry 'bout the quality of the pic, I guess I zoomed in and took the pic from a distance cuz I didnt feel like going out in the cold it looks a lil fuzzed. Yup, car needs drop...trust me I know this.
Taken from a side angle.....

I have been in the same dilema. I dont hate it with them on as it does add a bit of a sporty appeal. but they do protect your car from when ppl open their door into yours. I know I have a couple small chips in the side molding.
Do what you think looks better, and its not like its hard to get them off or put them back on so. but I am telling you right now most people here will say to take them off
I have one true love in my life...And my girlfriend sits next to me in it
shave them
heres some good pictures for ya

Haha, well thats the thing, the more people tell me to take them off, I will take them off. But then you stated a good point about people hitting the side of your car and I didn't even think about that. But then again, I know someone who could fix it up and not take it to a dealer and have their stupid body shop charge me madly. But my friend who I asked to help me take them off says that its just gonna look plain and that something like a graphic (nothing huge tho cuz I won't allow that lol) be put on to cut off the *big* emptiness when they are off.
Thanks for the input
take it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i like it without

I think the 4 doors have that lil ridge kinda thing that would still make it seem like they are *on*. Some 4 doors have them off already it seems cuz I parked next to a red 4 door cavy today at work and they had the ridge part and no molding. Car wasn't pimp either. Weird. Tmanz...Looks nice with them off your 4 door.
I like them off in a way cuz I see Darkstars with them off and it looks good that way. (Darkstars like I said b4 I always compliment your car
) But is it cuz his is dropped and mines not? Does the drop have nething to do with helping out the look?

Alright well thanks for the feedback everyone; more is always welcome. I think I definately will take them off, but again if someone decides I shouldn't lemme know. But it really does look hawt with them off.
Now if only someone could give me some money to drop it. What is the REAL way of doing a good drop. And what is a way that I can drop it yet not be TOOOO bad. Im on a lil budget so would like to know what price ranges there are from the pros who have it done and know what they're doing. There are coilovers (those go up n down right? and there are lowering springs that just are fixed once cut right?) And next time i get a car, the first thing I do is DROP IT LIKE ITS HOT then rim it...haha. Get back to me guys/girls!!!!
Buy some good coilovers or good springs and buy koni.
Sold the Z24
tmanz24 cav = HOTNESSSSS!!!!
its getting humped at the bash
the four doors that don't have the trim are base models. i bought one and i like the way it looks with them off. but as you stated the four doors have a "ridge" designed into them that breaks up the vastness of the doors. for a clean look i would take them off.
go naked looks much better...heres , mine
and naked
hope that helps
Later, Dave
One thing to consider, is on the sedans, they are so low, they don't do much. The door sticks out more, near the top of the door, so there really is no protection with them against door dings. On the coupes, they are a little higher, and may provide some protection against dings. On the other hand, I pulled mine off my sedan, and I think it's way nicer without. So, yeah, pull 'em and park farther away from people.
I may not know much about cars, but I know two things....
1) Breaking things is expensive, and
2) Horsepower isn't cheap.
I will probably keep mine on because I am afraid of what I might find underneath.
Sold the Z24
lose em and watch where you park. looks better without. (course im partial to yellow cavs)

You will find paint since we are all painted first. That 3M tape is pretty tuff stuff so if you took yours off (being carefull)thats all you'll find . I had mine on for 4yrs and over 100thousand miles before i finally took them off and the paint still looks good.
Should definatelly take them off. looks a lot better without. but yeah, watch where you park.
I have an idea im working on, well its an idea i need to work on. take a thin magnetic strip and cover it with felt. Then glue one side to the inside of your side mouldings. This way you could put them on when you wanted to. like if you were in a parking lot. then just pull them off when you dont want them. seems like a decent idea to save the sides of the cars from door dings. I should be trying this soon, but i figured id throw out the idea for anyone worried about getting dings.
What you guys think?
I think it would look better with the car dropped.(compared it in your car domain site Wolfeman--i like ya ride). I already had some kind of ding on the passenger side near the gas door area so thats away from the moldings so if thats got a ding, then with or without those things, your car will have a ding-a-ling just about anywhere. Its one of those POP out dings that are hard to pop out i guess. Any suggestions?
But thanks for the responses guys. Didn't think I would get this many. Keep em coming I guess. I'll look into the drop stuff. But would like to know more about springs vs coilovers and a decent price for them, but nothing too crazy cuz theres plenty of pot-holes here in Rochester, NY especially on the road going home. Thanks again!
