I have an '05 Cavalier that I would like to customize with a body kit (bumpers and side skirts/hood). My problem is that this is a daily driver car and I have a 180 mile commute over a mountainous highway that is not noted for it's smooth road. In the winter I also have quite a bit of snow to contend with. What exterior mods can I undertake without lowering my car to the point that I have a problem with clearance? Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.
dont modify a daily driver if your streets are bad....... thats just my opinion

i would do a mild drop using sportlines or goldlines, and then a lip kit instead of a fullout body kit.

Try the Pro-Kit - 1.4" or Tein makes around a 1.1" drop set of springs.
i have the same Dilema, its a Daily Driver, and there are SOME bad pot holes and what not, i was thinking about a Dropm and maybe a kit, depending on the actual look after the drop, just how low should i go..somethin that still looks aggressive but wont F|_|C |{ my car up

True, but it would be mild because he'd have a lip kit and not a full bodykit like Drift or something. I was thinking the same thing at first though.

2" inch drop is not mild mine is 1.5 and i scrape on my speed bumps just my opinion

2 inches is very mild... im lowered 4 inches
I am lowered 1.7 in the front and 1.5 in the rear wiht the Blitz kit and drag Everywhere
But anyways go with a mild drop and a lip kit.

You could get a urethane kit.. Something that doesn't sit too low.. I think the eXtreme kit, and Razzi kit sit about as low as a lip kit, but I'm not completely sure.. you'd need to do some research.. Also I wouldn't drop it very much if you plan to do winter driving on hills with a kit, unless you like plowing snow.. but if you do drop it, I would get coilovers so you can raise the car up when you need to.
I'm on Pro-Kit and a Combat front, and I have a soda can's clearence and I scrap here and there, never dinged my kit, but my exhaust rubs now and then.
So I could put on a body kit and not lower the car otherwise and probably be alright? Or would that look stupid?
I have a 03 Cavy and i live in winnipeg which is known for it's TERRIBLE roads and BAD potholes in spring. I'm drivin my daily driver around on a 3 inch drop and i don't drag. just be VERY VERY careful where you drive and drive SLOW -->no racing!! (unless you know it's a perfect road surface) And go around the speed bumps in parking lots of course. That's the only place i drag, but then again i am SUPER careful where i drive.

Honestly I don't think the average person who looks at your car will notice if you are lowered or not (unless you are slammed) and I doubt they will care one way or another, lol.
I'm on stock springs and nobody has ever mentioned my wheel gap when they look at my car.. the only time I hear about my wheelgap is when I post pics on this site actually
Regardless, I do eventually want to lower the car a bit.. but there are other things I want to do first..

If you think the wheelgap looks unbearably bad, just get coilovers and raise the car up in the winter time, and ride lowered the rest of the year... thats probably the route I'll go.. but i'm not entirely sure what I want to do yet..
A lip kit should do with no drop. My Rk Sport front just bairly passes over those nice speed bumps and its an 04 factory hight. So if u want some thing that looks good go with the RKsport ground effects kit. Gives it a really nice look with facotry and maybe some 17" wheels

i have the drift kit on sportline springs and i can barely get my foot under the front end sooo i end up dodgeing potholes everyday. my cavy is a daily driver also.

Drop it and put rims on it, body kits are cool but can be quite an expensive hobby to repair and or replace where you are located, These cars got great in some snow but drop that nose down and you are now the snow plow. its all about those dolla$
I would recommend buying a kit for it and lowering it. My front kit is about 2.5 inches off the ground. You just gotta dodge those potholes. Lowering springs help your stability around the corners as well. I hit corners at 80-90km/h now that i could only hit at 40km/h with stock springs. I have a nice sway bar helping out as well, but springs play a big role in handling. Just be careful and lower it as far as you dare.
