Well having shaved doors is awesome...but the other day I FINALLY readjusted my doors so that they actually line up right and all of a sudden the solenoids couldn't handle the pull. The driver’s side has a 35 lb autoloc solenoid that's been awesome for 3 years now....until yesterday....went to get into my car in the morning and all I got was a clicking relay...no pop. Passenger side is a cheap solenoid that i've had since I shaved the doors...it only worked some of the time...now its done too....
I guess the whole reason for this post is to find out what size solenoids everyone else is using...I'm pissed to the point of spending the extra money for the 75 lb autoloc...but I don't know how much over kill that is. Being a convertible my doors are pretty heavy...but damn, I really thought 35 lbs would be enough...

alot say 50 because of winter. others use 40 and never had a problem
75 is overkill.... 50 should be good, or the 40lb ones by Spal. Whatever ones you decide, let me know if you need someplace to buy them from

Like said above it might of been from the winter. I'm going to have to redo mine here soon also, but when I do it this time I'm going to make sure to take a wire from the braket inside the car to ground them incause anything is going to happen again. So it could be as little as the door has rust inside of it now. I've had to clean them up once or twise.
My friends S-10 has a 35lb kit I believe. His drivers side quick working but turned out that there is a little clip that broke. You could still hear the click, but nothing. Turns out water was channeling to that area and got in somehow to make the clip rustThe clip is very small and was just pocket change at Napa. Hope this helps some.

I have the 50lb autoloc ones. Worked great for about a year now.

Ha... I just posted
this yesterday
I'd recommend staying away from Autoloc. I don't know if they have changed over to using cheaper parts, but something is up. I had to replace one about 2 months after installing the kit, and then just a few days ago I had another one completely fall apart.
^^^That sucks, they work great for me.

I've heard to use 50lb as well. That's what I plan on getting when I shave mine. I've heard the good and the bad about Autoloc but I've seen Whitecavy's in person and they seem to be working perfectly well so I'm kind of debating of whether I should go wtih them.

I had my 50 pounders for about a 2 years, and then one day it just fell apart... literally. The latch that pulls just completely came out of the rest of the assembly.
You could shoot the casing it has with a .22 and it wouldn't bust, but the interior parts are crap (I got a little happy with a cutoff wheel and went searching around inside
). It's pretty much cheap, thin plastic pieces that hold the whole ordeal together.
ive got the spal kit and it is working great. but i dont use the brain i run the doors through my viper alarm.
Long time no see TML057.....we need to get something going in T-town!
On topic.....yep sounds like what happened to my friends S-10

If you need to replace them, let me know I can get you a good price. But sounds like you dont really need to replace.. Mine do that all the time.. Try twisting the solenoid pull thing at the top, put some lube down in there, if one of those solutions doesnt work let me know maybe I can think of more.

You know, I'm wondering if when you adjusted the doors, you put more tension on the wire. Sometimes the solenoids won't work if the line is too tight... try removing the door catch and seeing if the solenoids pop.
I would recomend the spal 40lb pound 7 channel shaved door handle kit. I have had it on my car for about 5 months now and not a single problem. My buddy also ordered the same kit and his has been fine also; he had the autoloc kit before and that went completely out in about 3 months. ive heard a lot of bad things about autolocs solenoids. You can get the spal kit on ebay pretty cheap. I got mine for $107 shipped, and my buddy got his for like $90 shipped. Just search spal.
i've heard from a bunch of people that autolocs garbage.
