Would recommend getting rid of all the rust on there....grinding it off, or hooking a wirebrush up to your drill.

Clean it.

Paint.

and btw, the kit is only about 20$ CAN.

I cleaned the drums off with brake cleaner and scrubbed them down with a wire brush. Then I sprayed some flat black radiator/high temp paint. Prob won't work for the calipers but it got the rust look off the rears.

This is interesting , b/c I plan on doing the same thing here in a couple days, the only exception is that I'm sand blasting my drums.....not sure what you mean by spots to not paint on the brakes, you mean the calipers right?

Don't forget about powder coating. It should last at least 10 years without chipping, fading, etc., the color choices are almost endless and to do the drums and calipers it shouldn't be more than $50. I will be getting mine done very soon. Just my .02 though.

easiest way to do rotors is do the entire rotor then get the rotor machined, that way you have percet coverage and tion surface will be spotless

easiest full proof way is getting the caliper paint kit, comes with everything u need and instructions, also high temp paint works.

take your drums off sand and clean spray with high temp paint. For the calipers if you don't want to risk having to bleed your brakes, just mask off the wheel well. Any paint you get on the rotor will rub off the first couple of times you brake. I would try to avoid getting paint on them anyways. Wire wheel and some sand paper work well to get the rust off, the only thing is if you don't get all the rust off the paint will peel faster.
